Congratulations, onfire247, on reaching this milestone, and more importantly for diligently storing up God’s Word in your heart!

Great work, onfire247! Those milestones keep flying by. Congrats!

Yes. Great work. I do love to see zeros.... but sometimes i wish there was a random number 'award' like 17771 or any string that includes multiple 7s. So it would be a total surprise. haha.

Woohoo. You’re going great 👍 Keep on going 😊

LOL @ mrsmoo. Not a bad idea. "Today's Random Badge is awared to __________". Because each one is special in God's eyes :)

joosep 2021-06-09 03:36

thanks mrsmoo and thank you for sharing :) ... and once again, good job, onfire.

TheMoviegoer 2021-06-09 09:53

Great idea, Mrsmoo! And the point value should anywhere between 490 and 144k!

onfire247 2021-06-09 12:56

Thanks for the kind words!

I was looking through some of the chat history the other day, and I saw a weekly points winner award. I wish they'd bring that back. Of course, I'd never win it because of TMG, but it would be nice to have some healthy competition. For me, the achievements and points are a motivation to continue on when I want to give up, which is basically like every day ha!

Tho i love numerical patterns, establishing simple routines has helped me stay focused. I try to limit my reviews to 20 - 30 verses each day. That gives me time to reflect and praise. When i feel the struggle, it tells me the opposition is trying to distract me. Now I have a growing arsenal of verses to stand on. So thankful for this site and for this supportive community. I would skip brushing my teeth before I would miss my time here. haha haha haha. That might have happened once.... or maybe twice. Onfire247- I have admired your passion and dedication. And your kind supportive words to all. Continue to be blessed and to be a blessing to others.

Online247, I have been on a hot streak of sorts for a while, but you have been up there many times. I hope my run isn’t too discouraging. Honestly, I am surprised I have been able to keep it going. I basically shoot for 100k per day. It may sound crazy, but when you’re working on a book (with lots of verses to review everyday) it seems reasonable. I’m moving today, so this your chance to cruise on by.

No way. I love your progress! That's why I wish the competitive aspect of the site still existed. Your progress pushes me to work harder at what I'm doing. Its just like church; when you get around like-minded people, there is an uplift as a result. I was simply stating that I'd like that feature back even though I probably wouldn't win it ha! Would I do better if there was a competitive aspect? Maybe? I really don't know.

I struggle with how much I output now, but I think I can do more. I've just got to work on my system. I have perfect memorization for the verses until the interval gets to a month, then my memory starts falling off. I'm considering changing up how I review. I'm thinking that maybe I'll divide John into 200ish verse chunks and manually practice each of those chunks every day. So, for example, put John 1-4 together into set and start out by reviewing that set every day (skipping Sundays). Then after a month, change it to every three days. Then after another month, once a week. Once every two weeks, Once a month. Once every two months, and so on. In other words, just skip the website's review schedule entirely for John. I'm still thinking about it though. Regardless, I've got to come up with a better system long before I think about trying to compete (which I'm not, really).

Thank you for the kind words, msrmoo.

Likewise, Onfire247! I am constantly working on my system, but I really love to hear about how folks are doing out there. There is a camaraderie to memorization that is so, so encouraging. I know I am focused on Mark, but I think about how cool it is that you're working on John. Also, another think I often think of is what if we all met somewhere, sometime together. I believe that with all the users on this site, we could probably recite the whole Bible. And that thought just makes me happy.

joosep 2021-06-11 00:33

Beautiful thoughts, TheMoviegoer. And I too believe in fine-tuning the system; I feel today that I've come up with a system that certainly works for me; not necessarily for others, but for me, in bringing a healthy majority of verses being learned to a fully learnt status.

I also liked onfire247's ideas concerning the changes which he is considering making.
