Description

Jesus is the author of faith. Therefore He is the generator and the originator and the creator of our faith in Him. The point being, that all glory goes to Him -- our salvation is not of ourselves. "Where then is boasting?", Paul says. "It is excluded", he answers. Romans 3. (Quotes from the NASB)

It is God who has wrapped us with the garments of salvation. Isaiah 61. We have not wrapped ourselves with those garments; it is God who has done so.

Verses

  • Ephesians 2:8: For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God;

  • Hebrews 12:1-2: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set out for him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

  • Isaiah 61:10: I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; I will be overjoyed because of my God. For he clothes me in garments of deliverance; he puts on me a robe symbolizing vindication. I look like a bridegroom when he wears a turban as a priest would; I look like a bride when she puts on her jewelry.

  • John 6:44: No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.

  • Romans 10:9-10: because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousness and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation.
