Hey Jesse and Joosep, sorry for the delay in responding.

Jesse, that is exciting stuff when you realize how God is working in your life and when you know that He has called you to do something for Him. Being used by our Lord is always an amazing life changing experience!

I began my relationship with Christ when I was 35, only 3 1/2 years ago. Without going into massive details about the experience and the story, the ultimate ending is that He called me to be a Pastor. The interesting part of the story is that I doubted the calling, but many, many, many people encouraged me into this path, including friends, family, local and universal church family, and complete strangers that I had never met before in my life, this cross-section of people were believers and unbelievers alike. I was looking for someone, anyone, to tell me it was a bad idea so that I could say "No," but God only put positive people in my path so that I couldn't say No. (You referenced and want to talk about being like Jonah :), I was running away!) That encouraging and life changing process was about 1-1/2 years long and it caused me to eventually break down into a million pieces and fully submit to the Lord. This then led me on to the next path of attending Moody Bible Institute, of which I am currently attending (online), because of the great need to learn more about Jesus and how I can help further His Kingdom through His church.

My church brother "Grey" introduced me to this site and it has helped me tremendously to keep in God's word, because as a student, I am reading many different books other than the Bible. As you are now, I am still finding I love this site 6 months later and it has been a blessing, no doubts there! I would however love to see some theological discussions on here though, bu

I started by learning verses here and there throughout the Bible as you are (my first 3 months), but have since moved on to studying entire books thanks to some thought provoking comments by Graetzmi and Joosep.

Keep it up, stop running, and accept your calling Jesse!

Much love and many blessings,

Hello all. Thank you for the kind words, By Grace Alone, and it's a nice idea to share with the rest of the group our study methods and experiences. At the moment I have an overall plan of going through several books of the Bible in order. I add (usually) two verses each day from two different chapters. When I finish a chapter, then I move on to a chapter in a different book. By doing so, I will complete all these books in about 5 years. Yes, it's a very long range plan, but it has been blessing me. The books in my rotation are Romans, Daniel, Acts, Revelation, Matthew, John, and some of Paul's letters.

I echo what By Grace Alone said, that coming to this website every day is a spiritual discipline, and that the Holy Spirit greatly rewards faithfulness to keep that discipline, by giving comfort, greater understanding of God's Word, and a greater closeness to God. Plus in my own daily life, it often happens where a scripture comes to my mind that will be a blessing to someone else.

My ministry is to hopefully be an example and a vessel of Jesus Christ in my day to day "normal" activities. I'm not any kind of actual "minister in the church", although I do go to church.

God's blessings on you
Joosep

Thank you By Grace Alone for your thoughtfulness. I am currently learning a handful of scriptures. This app is quite amazing! I really love it!! For many years now, I've shied away from doing ministry in any professional capacity, thinking I had a calling to minister in a secular field, which is a great calling if it is God's perfect will to serve in that way.

Over the years, however, God has given me greater clarity on the reality that He does want me to serve Him in that capacity.

It reminds me of the prophet Jonah, but not quite.

Truly, He has been so patient with me, so gracious!

What about yourself?

Hi everybody, it's great to keep seeing new faces added fairly regularly. The beginning is always the hardest and I want to encourage you and pray for you to persevere. I do so because once you develop a devotional time and make this a regular routine in your life (preferably daily but hey let's not push anything), you WILL BE amazed at how the Holy Spirit will work through you in this spiritual discipline of memorizing scripture. More so, it is simply the fact of being in God's word. Many who are on this site could testify and AMEN because of how it has changed them.

My friend Grey started this group but sadly he has strayed as so many of us do during the different seasons of life, so I ask that you would pray for him to return in order to encourage each other along the way.
Other than my friend there are some great people on this website and in this group as well. I have met Joosep and he is very active on this site and encourages others as well as shares his ideas on learning plans. I'm on here pretty regularly as well and I love it. There are a lot of other great people not in this group as well, but you are here, and this is ultimately what you make of it.

What are your study methods?
What are you learning?
What brought you to this website?
What has changed in you since you started learning on this website?
Do any of you work in ministry as a profession?

I'd love to hear your thoughts so that we could sharpen each other.

Grace and Peace to you in your journey through life and scripture.

In Christ,
-By Grace Alone

Hi all! So good to join a group of like-minded believers. Looking forward to studying together. 😊

southparkave 2015-11-02 22:23

That is the best way to evangelize and give reason for why you believe. May the Holy Spirit work in you to accomplish this goal.

Hi everyone. I need accountability buddies. I can tell you what the verses say in context of a conversation but I want to remember the scripture reference book and verse so the people Im talking to can go read and confirm it for themselves.

Welcome, Gamom!

Just found the app and looking forward to the encouragement and challenge of memorizing scripture with others! Gods word is sharper than any double edged sword and I'm hoping that this will help me to recall versus as I grow in study...thanks!

Welcome to the group! Grace and Peace to you on your journey through scripture.

Amen!

Only through Him can we overcome adversity.

joosep 2015-06-17 02:28

I agree with you 100 percent, melani4jc.

I think this app is just what I've been looking for to hide God's word in my heart. I'm needing a lot of his strength right now.

joosep 2015-06-12 03:26

Yes, Southparkave. Psalm 119:11. Thank you for that reminder.

southparkave 2015-06-11 22:57

I keep these God-inspired words hidden in my heart, so that I may use them as a sword to defend against the attacks of the evil one. There are no more excuses to give in to temptation. Thank you Lord.

ChristianGirl93 2015-06-09 12:09

I feel really blessed right now. I have a guy friend, and studying God's Word has given me sound advice as to how to handle issues that come up in our friendship. It really is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.

Praise God for the scriptures. As Calvin said, God lisps with us "as nurses are wont to do with little children? Such modes of expression, therefore, do not so much express what kind of a being God is, as accommodate the knowledge of him to our feebleness. In doing so, he must, of course, stoop far below his proper height." Thank you Lord for divine baby-talk, indeed, what a Father we have.
