"O LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, today let it be known that You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant and I have done all these things at Your word. Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that You, O LORD, are God, and that You have turned their heart back again."

1 Kings 18:36-37

I am currently studying the life of Elijah and this prayer he offered on Mount Carmel before summoning God's holy fire is one of the most powerful examples of prayer I have heard. Simple and direct, offering God glory, declaring his allegiance with him, and asking for the turning of his people's hearts.

praise the Lord for how Matt came back into the fold. God is good to us.

ChatCat01 2021-07-21 15:56

It's been a hot minute but I wanted to thank those who prayed for my friend Matt. God has moved powerfully in this last month. He has found a new job (a dream job really) and Matt said that he had never felt such a physical and spiritual outpour of love and support before. He returned to the fold after sharing and shedding his grievances and was humbled by the presence of God in those around him.

Thank you all for your prayers and PRAISE be to God, for He is good and faithful above all else.

"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to console,
not so much to be understood as to understand,
not so much to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
it is in dying that we awake to eternal life."

Thank you for your prayers. She is out of immediate danger and is on bed rest at home now. They still don't know what caused the dip in platelets so we anticipate a bunch more tests.

praying for your sister

biblememorizerCamilaParker 2021-06-17 21:12

Yes wow I’ll pray. And I agree with ur last post. And it makes memorization more fun! I believe all Christians should know about it.

ChatCat01 2021-06-17 20:48

I have one more urgent prayer request. I was just called by my parents, my sister was admitted to the hospital for complications with her crohn's disease but they found out she has 1/10th the blood platelets she should have and is now a severe bleed risk. They suspect internal bleeding somewhere. Prayers for her healing and peace for my anxious parents.

ChatCat01 2021-06-17 15:37

Thank you, Camila, it is appreciated. I'll post updates over time. And don't hesitate to post your own prayer requests too! This website is an excellent resource for Christians all around the world to support and encourage each other, and the two most powerful practices God gave us was rightly wielding the word of God and our ability to speak with Him directly.

biblememorizerCamilaParker 2021-06-16 17:43

Wow I’ll pray

ChatCat01 2021-06-16 16:15

I have a prayer request, and it is something that will likely be ongoing. My friend Matt is having a crisis of faith. He has been suffering with physical pain and heavy medical debt due to injuries he received in highschool over a decade ago. He feels spiritually broken and has declared he cannot worship a God he feels doesn't come through on his promises.

I have hope that this is just a terrible season he will return from, but right now he is angry at God, and beyond exhausted. He is refusing to come to church or Bible study for now.

If you are willing, pray for Matt's healing, provision, and reconciliation with God. We know God does not forget people, and never leaves our side, but Matt is losing hope. However you feel led, your prayers are needed and appreciated.

Thank you ChatCat01 for posting this prayer which is indeed so timely

ChatCat01 2021-06-02 16:25

I am happy to post prayers that might serve as inspiration, instruction, or just remembrance. I find it very helpful to look back through the centuries and connect to the thousands of believers who came before and recognize myself in them. It is comforting to know that they have had the same thoughts and wants and needs, and give words to things I don't always know how to say.

Here is another one I find is very needed today.

"We pray and we entreat God, whom those men [persecutors] do not cease to provoke and exasperate, that they may soften their hearts, that they may return to health of mind when this madness has been put aside, that their hearts, filled with the darkness of sin, may recognize the light of repentance, and that they may rather seek that the intercession and prayers of the Church be poured out for themselves than that they themselves shed the blood of the Church."

Supplicatory prayers corresponding to 24 hours of the day – St John Chrysostom (344-407 AD)

Day

Lord, deprive me not of Your heavenly joys. Lord, deliver me from eternal torments. Lord, if I have sinned in mind or thought, in word or deed, forgive me. Lord, deliver me from all ignorance, forgetfulness, cowardice and stony insensibility. Lord, deliver me from every temptation. Lord, enlighten my heart which evil desires have darkened. Lord, I being human have sinned, but You being the generous God, have mercy on me, knowing the sickness of my soul. Lord, send Your grace to my help, that I may glorify Your holy Name. Lord Jesus Christ, write me Your servant in the Book of Life, and grant me a good end. O Lord my God, even though I have done nothing good in Your sight, yet grant me by Your grace to make a good start. Lord, sprinkle into my heart the dew of Your grace. Lord of heaven and earth remember me, Your sinful servant, shameful and unclean, in Your Kingdom. Amen.

Night

O Lord, accept me in penitence. O Lord, leave me not. O Lord, lead me not into temptation. O Lord, grant me good thoughts. O Lord, grant me tears and remembrance of death and compunction. O Lord, grant me the thought of confessing my sins. O Lord, grant me humility, chastity and obedience. O Lord, grant me patience, courage and meekness. O Lord, plant in me the root of all blessings, the fear of You in my heart. O Lord, grant me to love You with all my mind and soul, and always to do Your will. O Lord, protect me from certain people, and demons, and passions, and from every other harmful thing. O Lord, You know that You act as You will; may Your will be also in me, a sinner, for blessed art You forever. Amen.

That is wonderful, ChatCat01. Thank you for sharing and thus strengthening the faith of others.

Praise God! To God be the glory and honor and thanks for He is good and His mercy endures for ever!

ChatCat01 2021-05-25 23:08

Thank you dJCg! I have a praise, that God is indeed good. It's been a crazy week but I have found a housing situation and can move in on the first of the month. I'll be very busy packing, and there's plenty of costs and paperwork, but He has provided and kept me during this time. I knew God would provide, but I am relieved the wait was brief, and very grateful for your prayers. <3

dJCg 2021-05-21 18:37

Sorry ChatCat01 that I didn't see your post earlier. I have been taken up with lots of things happening in my life, too so I also missed a few days not being connected. I am so sorry for your predicament with your housing.

I pray that our Father, Abba, who is Yehova Jire and cares for you with love shall provide a perfect housing for you and He will watch over it so no evil shall come near it.

We are in total agreement and receive by faith your new home that God is going to protect as promised in Psalm 91:10.

We give Him all the honor, praise and worship so He is glorified in your life and mine by answering to your prayer on which we both agreed. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

The Prayer of Anselm 1033-1109

Lord, because you have made me, I owe you the whole of my love; because you have redeemed me, I owe you the whole of myself; because you have promised so much, I owe you my whole being.

Moreover, I owe you as much more love than myself as you are greater than I, for whom you gave yourself and to whom you promised yourself.

I pray you, Lord, make me taste by love what I taste by knowledge; let me know by love what I know by understanding.

I owe you more than my whole self, but I have no more, and by myself I cannot render the whole of it to you. Draw me to you, Lord, in the fullness of your love. I am wholly yours by creation; make me all yours, too, in love.

ChatCat01 2021-05-19 19:42

Welcome dJCg!

I guess I will start us off with the first prayer request. I missed a few days on here as I have very suddenly lost my housing situation. I'm looking for a new place to stay, so any prayers for provision until I can get settled would be most appreciated.

However a praise! I was able to visit my nephew and new baby niece because of it! God certainly makes the most of any situation.
