Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters! Let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.

James 1:19 NET

"Quick to listen ....." I think we could apply that to our memorization / verse meditation that we do on this site. As Symota noted recently in another post, using this website has helped him / her take each Bible verse more slowly. "Quick to listen" could also mean "to read and to hear carefully"

amen, thank you for sharing that!

And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldst keep his commandments, or no.

30 Now Jesus performed many other miraculous signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not recorded in this book.
31 But these are recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2 Cor. 5:20-21 KJV)

"Do you really think anyone can hide himself where I cannot see him?" the LORD asks. "Do you not know that I am everywhere?" the LORD asks.

Jeremiah 23:24 (New English Translation)

I'm taking that verse out of context. It's always of utmost importance to consider the context of the chapter, the book, who was writing and to whom it was written ... and even more factors.

In this case it was the Lord speaking to Jeremiah, concerning the false prophets who were active in Judah at the time.

But the verse also stands on its own. It is both a comfort to us and also a caution to us. We shouldn't ever deceive ourselves into thinking that we can hide from God. On the other hand, we can also take great comfort in the fact that God sees and knows even the tiniest details of our lives.

Nicodemus 2022-03-31 05:58

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying,

“Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night".

Jeremiah 15:16 (NASB)

Please note, it's very important to consider the context of Jeremiah as a whole. This was a time of unthinkable suffering for Judah. At the moment I'm listening to a reading of Jeremiah and the reader is conveying that pain very accurately. Yet in spite of that, Jeremiah said, "Your Words were found and I ate them". This is a challenge to all of us to do the same. Of course, that's why were are here at this website :) To "eat" God's Word.

Thus says the LORD, Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, *that he understands and knows Me*, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things, declares the LORD.

Thanks for sharing that passage, joosep - and for your thoughts on it.

joosep 2022-03-09 01:07

Yes, rvfc2. In my opinion, Jesus had these verses from Daniel in mind when He referred to Himself as the Son of Man. Of course, He also called Himself the Son of Man to communicate that He was (is) both fully man and fully God.

But I do believe that He had this portion of Daniel in mind as well. So I think that Daniel was both seeing that vision, as you said Jane, and also Jesus grew up as a boy and as a man, growing in His knowledge that this and all the other prophetic Messianic verses, pointed directly to Him.

Hebrews 5:8 says that He learned obedience through the things that He suffered.

In Luke 2:46, at the age of twelve, His distraught mother and father, Joseph and Mary, after searching for Him for *three days*, found Him in the temple with the teachers, *both* listening to them *and* asking them questions. He, I believe, was steadily growing in His knowledge, as He grew as a boy into a man, that He was and is both fully God and fully Man. The Son of God, and The Son of Man.

rvfc2 2022-03-08 20:24

In the gospels, Jesus often referred to himself as the Son of man. He also spoke of those whom the Father had given to him (I think of John 6, 10, & 17). I wonder if what Daniel was seeing here was a vision from "before the foundation of the world."

joosep 2022-03-08 07:28

I kept looking in the night visions,
And behold, with the clouds of heaven
One like a Son of Man was coming,
And He came up to the Ancient of Days
And was presented before Him.
And to Him was given dominion,
Glory and a kingdom,
That all the peoples, nations
And men of every language
Might serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion
Which will not pass away;
And His kingdom is one
Which will not be destroyed.

Daniel 7:13-14 NASB

thanks for sharing

joosep 2022-03-07 06:35

This morning, I was reading the Bible and simultaneously listening to audio. So, I want to share some verses from Daniel 4.

This is truly an amazing story, and all I can say is, "Glory to You, O Lord, and we will worship You forever".

Nebuchadnezzar had had a dream. Daniel interpreted it, and told Nebuchadnezzar that he would be driven from human society and for seven years live like a wild animal, like a beast of the field.

As we probably remember, before this event, Nebuchadnezzar was an arrogant, proud, and very cruel tyrant (remember how he told his magicians that they would be torn limb from limb if they didn't given him the right answer)

I encourage everyone reading this to read all of Daniel 4 and to thus get the whole feel and the whole context.

This story shows me that God loves EVERYONE and desires for all to be saved!! (1 Timothy 2:4)

-------------------
33 Immediately the word concerning Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled; and he was driven away from mankind and began eating grass like cattle, and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws.
34 “But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever;
For His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
And His kingdom endures from generation to generation.
35 “All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, But He does according to His will in the host of heaven And among the inhabitants of earth;
And no one can ward off His hand
Or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’

Lovely words and sentiments Joosep. Praying for peace and safely of all. Stay safe.

May we all be faithful ambassadors for Christ, willing and doing our Father's good pleasure. :-)

joosep 2022-03-05 06:25

Thank you, rvfc2. We are all safe here. There is, however, a heighted sense of anxiety, and a feeling that we have entered into a new phase of existence. But I hasten to add, that I do not wish to discuss politics of *any* kind. Rather, I want to promote the knowledge of God, the knowledge of God's Word, and the love of God

-- love conquers all.

These verses express my thoughts at the moment:

129 Your testimonies are wonderful;
Therefore my soul observes them.
130 The unfolding of Your words gives light;
It gives understanding to the simple.
131 I opened my mouth wide and panted,
For I longed for Your commandments.
132 Turn to me and be gracious to me,
After Your manner with those who love Your name.
133 Establish my footsteps in Your word,
And do not let any iniquity have dominion over me.
134 Redeem me from the oppression of man,
That I may keep Your precepts.
135 Make Your face shine upon Your servant,
And teach me Your statutes.
*136 My eyes shed streams of water,
Because they do not keep Your law.*

Nicodemus 2022-03-05 06:02

amen, rvfc2

rvfc2 2022-03-05 06:01

The LORD is thy keeper...The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. (Psalm 121:5a,7)

...he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. (Hebrews 13:5b-6 KJV)

These verses are precious. We may memorize them and we believe them, but I realize every so often that my life is often pretty tame (for which I am grateful) and that my faith in God as He is described in these and other verses is seldom tested.
Joosep - looking at your comments from last week - Praise God that His word is truth and that He is faithful. I will add my prayers to yours. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21). May you and yours be safe.

Nicodemus 2022-02-27 14:43

amen
