Verses

  • 1 John 5:21: Little children, guard yourselves from idols.

  • Exodus 20:3-6: "You shall have no other gods before me. "You shall not make for yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above or that is on the earth beneath or that is in the water below. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I, the LORD, your God, am a jealous God, responding to the transgression of fathers by dealing with children to the third and fourth generations of those who reject me, and showing covenant faithfulness to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

  • Leviticus 19:4: Do not turn to idols, and you must not make for yourselves gods of cast metal. I am the LORD your God.

  • Isaiah 44:9: All who form idols are nothing; the things in which they delight are worthless. Their witnesses cannot see; they recognize nothing, so they are put to shame.

  • Isaiah 45:20: Gather together and come! Approach together, you refugees from the nations! Those who carry wooden idols know nothing, those who pray to a god that cannot deliver.

  • Judges 10:14: Go and cry for help to the gods you have chosen! Let them deliver you from trouble!"

  • Jonah 2:8: Those who worship worthless idols forfeit the mercy that could be theirs.

  • Psalm 16:4: their troubles multiply, they desire other gods. I will not pour out drink offerings of blood to their gods, nor will I make vows in the name of their gods.

  • Psalm 135:15-18: The nations' idols are made of silver and gold, they are man-made. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see, and ears, but cannot hear. Indeed, they cannot breathe. Those who make them will end up like them, as will everyone who trusts in them.

  • Galatians 4:8: Formerly when you did not know God, you were enslaved to beings that by nature are not gods at all.

  • Galatians 5:19-21: Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, depravity, idolatry, sorcery, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish rivalries, dissensions, factions, envying, murder, drunkenness, carousing, and similar things. I am warning you, as I had warned you before: Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God!

  • Colossians 3:5: So put to death whatever in your nature belongs to the earth: sexual immorality, impurity, shameful passion, evil desire, and greed which is idolatry.

  • 1 Corinthians 10:7: So do not be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play."

  • 1 Corinthians 10:14: So then, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.

  • Revelation 9:20: The rest of humanity, who had not been killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so that they did not stop worshiping demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood - idols that cannot see or hear or walk about.
