Description

This set contains the Bible verses that accompany questions #31-35 in the New City Catechism.

Verses

  • Jude 1:3: Dear friends, although I have been eager to write to you about our common salvation, I now feel compelled instead to write to encourage you to contend earnestly for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.

  • 1 Peter 1:1: From Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those temporarily residing abroad (in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, the province of Asia, and Bithynia) who are chosen

  • 1 Peter 1:2: according to the foreknowledge of God the Father by being set apart by the Spirit for obedience and for sprinkling with Jesus Christ's blood. May grace and peace be yours in full measure!

  • Galatians 2:16: yet we know that no one is justified by the works of the law but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by the faithfulness of Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

  • 1 Peter 2:9: But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

  • 1 Peter 2:10: You once were not a people, but now you are God's people. You were shown no mercy, but now you have received mercy.

  • 1 Peter 2:11: Dear friends, I urge you as foreigners and exiles to keep away from fleshly desires that do battle against the soul,

  • 1 Peter 2:12: and maintain good conduct among the non-Christians, so that though they now malign you as wrongdoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God when he appears.

  • Titus 3:4: But "when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared,

  • Titus 3:5: he saved us not by works of righteousness that we have done but on the basis of his mercy, through the washing of the new birth and the renewing of the Holy Spirit,

  • Titus 3:6: whom he poured out on us in full measure through Jesus Christ our Savior.
