Description

See John 2:17, which refers to Psalm 69:9

I added this set so that I could repeat these from time to time and remember from where that verse in John 2:17 came., and a little more of the context. These verses are prophetic, written beforehand by the Psalmist, about our Lord Jesus Christ, and convey what He willingly suffered for us. The rest of this Psalm too of course is wonderful, but here I've intentionally chosen to focus on this "negative" part of the Psalm. Negative in terms of what He had to suffer, but of eternal benefit for us! And God glorified Him afterwards, raising Him from the dead! There's so much more to the story. We could endlessly go on studying God's Word.

Psalm

69 8 My own brothers treat me like a stranger; they act as if I were a foreigner.
9 Certainly zeal for your house consumes me; I endure the insults of those who insult you.
10 I weep and refrain from eating food, which causes others to insult me.
11 I wear sackcloth and they ridicule me.
12 Those who sit at the city gate gossip about me; drunkards mock me in their songs.
