  • 1 Timothy 4:7-8: But reject those myths fit only for the godless and gullible, and train yourself for godliness. For "physical exercise has some value, but godliness is valuable in every way. It holds promise for the present life and for the life to come."

  • Matthew 6:16-18: "When you fast, do not look sullen like the hypocrites, for they make their faces unattractive so that people will see them fasting. I tell you the truth, they have their reward. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

  • Matthew 6:19-21: "Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.
