Description

These are passages where the gospel of Jesus Christ is shown in the Old Testament, followed by the New Testament verses that reveal Him there.

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ: "that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He rose from the dead on the third day, according to the Scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:1-6). These "Scriptures" to which Paul refers, that reveal Jesus' death and resurrection, are, of course, the Old Testament Scriptures, as those were the only Scriptures available at the time Paul wrote 1 Corinthians.

If I am able to come back in and edit this set after saving it, this set of Scriptures will contain at least one verse from every Old Testament book of the Bible. Come and see Jesus, experience His love at the cross and His power in the resurrection.

Verses

  • Genesis 3:15: And I will put hostility between you and the woman and between your offspring and her offspring; her offspring will attack your head, and you will attack her offspring's heel."

  • Colossians 2:15: Disarming the rulers and authorities, he has made a public disgrace of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

  • Exodus 17:6: I will be standing before you there on the rock in Horeb, and you will strike the rock, and water will come out of it so that the people may drink." And Moses did so in plain view of the elders of Israel.

  • 1 Corinthians 10:3-4: and all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they were all drinking from the spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.

  • Leviticus 1:3-4: "'If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd he must present it as a flawless male; he must present it at the entrance of the Meeting Tent for its acceptance before the LORD. He must lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted for him to make atonement on his behalf.

  • Hebrews 10:4-5: For the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins. So when he came into the world, he said, "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me.

  • Hebrews 10:10: By his will we have been made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

  • Numbers 21:6-9: So the LORD sent poisonous snakes among the people, and they bit the people; many people of Israel died. Then the people came to Moses and said, "We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD and against you. Pray to the LORD that he would take away the snakes from us." So Moses prayed for the people. The LORD said to Moses, "Make a poisonous snake and set it on a pole. When anyone who is bitten looks at it, he will live." So Moses made a bronze snake and put it on a pole, so that if a snake had bitten someone, when he looked at the bronze snake he lived.

  • John 3:14-15: Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."

  • Deuteronomy 21:22-23: If a person commits a sin punishable by death and is executed, and you hang the corpse on a tree, his body must not remain all night on the tree; instead you must make certain you bury him that same day, for the one who is left exposed on a tree is cursed by God. You must not defile your land which the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.

  • Galatians 3:13: Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us (because it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree")

  • Joshua 2:13-14: that you will spare the lives of my father, mother, brothers, sisters, and all who belong to them, and rescue us from death." The men said to her, "If you die, may we die too! If you do not report what we've been up to, then, when the LORD hands the land over to us, we will show unswerving allegiance to you."

  • 1 John 3:16: We have come to know love by this: that Jesus laid down his life for us; thus we ought to lay down our lives for our fellow Christians.
