Description

The phrase "Spirit of Christ" appears only two times in the King James Bible. Even so, the truth these verses contain about who Jesus really was (and is) are of the utmost importance to the Christian faith.

Romans 8:9 warns us if we do not have Christ's spirit, we do not belong to Him. Reading this verse carefully it is plain to see that there is no difference between the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ.

1 Peter 1:11 informs us it was the Spirit of Christ at work in the OT prophets. In other words, the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Christ are one in the same. (Read 1 Peter 1:9-12 to see this verse in proper context)

Verses

  • Romans 8:9: You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.

  • 1 Peter 1:11: They probed into what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he testified beforehand about the sufferings appointed for Christ and his subsequent glory.
