very nice!

Actually have YOU to thank for that one! I was working on Psalm 27 when I read your comment about "test instead of read" ...well.... For 4 days that's what I did every time I saw it. Really drove that scripture deep. But... back to dinging on other things in the 'to be tested' list.... Thankful for the patience of our God.

Thank you mrsmoo so much! It's good to hear that my somewhat random comment had a good effect!

Congrats! You can actually do max Ace in a day with this method. Just find a sufficiently long passage and get 30 or so verses into it. Then when it comes up for review, edit the group so that it has no dividers. Thus, when verse 30 comes up for review, it will start with verse 1. When you see verse 1, toggle it to test instead. Do the first few verses that you've practiced a hundred times, and then click on dashboard. Go back into the review, and it will be back at verse 1. Rinse and repeat until you get 256 in a row. I was thinking that a good selection to do this with was the sermon on the mount (Matt 5-7) because the beatitudes at the beginning are pretty easy to remember and are short verses. Or if you really want to make it easy, choose 1 Thess 5:16-17 and repeat those two verses over and over.

oh my.... you certainly give great thought to doing this. For me it was a total surprise to hit that badge....and a blessing to have remembered with such accuracy. I do think that test and read, for me, really challenges my memory instead of clicking over earlier verses to get to the current ones. But it does take time. Thanks onfire247 for being an inspiration and for really modeling your screenname.

Congratulations, mrsmoo! The surprise badges are very rewarding indeed. 👍🏽

Thanks for the kind words, Mrs. Moo. Honestly, I wish this badge ended at 32 or 64. The things you have to do to get this badge higher than 64 feels like cheating. Honestly, I'd rather see an achievement for the number times you got something perfect over the course of time. For example, got a verse 100% correct 10 times, then 100, then 500, then 1000, 5000, 10000, 20000, 50000, 100000. That would show accuracy over time and would feel like more of an accomplishment. Or better yet, add more layers in between. I'm a big fan of achievements, which is one of the things that drew me to this site. In fact, I wish every badge (except this one) had 20 levels instead of 10 with smaller intervals, because after you get your first million points it feels like you hardly ever get badges. At any rate, this post is not meant to denigrate you or anyone else who gets the higher Ace badges. Perhaps I'm just projecting my own insecurities at these badges, for I cannot see how I'll ever get them without cheezing them (which feels wrong on a Bible memory site).

The Lord gives us what we need. And this site has richness in its organization giving plenty of variety for learning styles. You make good points. At first I didn't realize there were badges as i was focused on strengthening my memory. Then saw joosep talk about "test instead of read" and thought wow! something new to try (even tho it was always there- who knew?!) Most of the time I focus on scripture the same way I walk.... Slow.... and Steady!!! Rejoicing in the opportunity to plant scripture into my heart. I appreciate this diverse community of believers who bring passion, compassion and encouragement to our journey. Thanks onfire247, continue to be blessed and to be a blessing to others.
