interesting choice???

I'm reading through and also listening to sermons on Jeremiah. I think those verses are appropos for today; people should know that God's judgment will indeed come, and we (even Christians, and also people in the world) must take that seriously.

If one studies the context of those two verses, in Chapter 19 it is explained that God made a covenant with Israel; they broke that covenant, over and over again, and finally God pronounced judgement. I am not trying to relate that to anything specific in today's world; but events in our world in general certainly show that tribulaton is coming closer and closer to us, or we may already be in it. The question I would ask of Christians is, do we truly love Him? do we put Him first in everthing? or is our religion only a form and a function, as was also true of many in Israel. I would challenge us, to learn to love Him more, to repent of our sins day by day, and to put Him first in our lives in every way. if we do that, we will not fail, as He will hold us by the hand and walk with us through any tribulation we might encounter.
