Thank you Retry. I would also like to reiterate and support something you said, "I'm wanting to become familiar with most of God's Word as a correction for my sinful thoughts and ideas." Compare these three verses: (which I'm sure retry, you already know and love :) )
Psalm 119:9-11 9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. 10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. 11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (KJV)
Psalm 119:9-11 9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word. 10 With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments. 11 Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You. (NAS)
"With my whole heart" is an important key here. Seeking God must not be casual, or like some kind of hobby; if it is like a hobby, then the benefits will be far fewer.
I agree with you on how expansively we want to pursue knowing God: His commands, mercy, desires, Word, anger, mighty acts, outstretched arm, and so many things. I'm transitioning to thinking about His Word, commands and desires as a way to learn what kind of God we serve, in addition to my usual desire to obey and believe. He loves us so I'd like to better grasp what kind of God we serve through what He's revealed to us.
