Psalm 23

The Lord Is My Shepherd

The Simple Gospel of Paul: A Forgiveness Found Through Faith, a Forging of a Fresh Life, and a Focus on the Freedom of Others

  1. Sin entered the world through Adam (1 Corinthians 15:21-22).
  2. Although Adam was the first sinner, we are all guilty of sin against God (Romans 3:23).
  3. We will all have to give an account before God on the Day of Judgement (2 Corinthians 5:10).
  4. God knew that we all faced eternal condemnation because of our actions, and he set a plan in motion that would pay our sin debt and reconcile us with God (Romans 5:8-11).
  5. He paid the sin debt for the whole world on the cross and gave us the power to receive a new spirit in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:14-17).
  6. Although Christ paid every person’s sin debt through his atoning work on the cross, only those who accept this free gift of forgiveness will receive a new internal spirit from him (Ephesians 2:8-9).
  7. We do not, however, receive a new body as part of this free gift. Instead, we must take our sinful bodies and bring it into subjection to Christ’s will rather than our own fleshly desires (1 Corinthians 9:24-27).
  8. Likewise, we do not receive a new mind. Instead, we must renew our minds so that we can know what God’s will is for our lives (Romans 12:1-2).
  9. The believer renews his or her mind by doing two things. First, he or she follows the promptings of the Holy Spirit as he reminds us what God’s Word says in every situation (Galatians 5:16-18).
  10. Second, he or she recognizes which behaviors are contrary to the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:19-21).
  11. When we recognize that we are new creations in Christ, and we put our bodies and minds under the submission of the Son, and we follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives, we will walk in the fruits of the Spirit in our life (Galatians 5:22-25).
  12. This also allows us to stop sinning and walk in newness of life in Christ (Romans 6:1-4).
  13. We will also be empowered to walk in forgiveness and love to everyone around us (Colossians 3:11-14).
  14. Finally, because we recognize that everyone’s debt (including our own) is paid through the cross, we also recognize that we are now ministers of that message of reconciliation to the rest of the world (2 Corinthians 5:18-21).

Passage set

Passage verse sets are for a continuous set of verses, like a Psalm or a chapter or part of a chapter.

When you are learning a passage set, you're always presented with the verses in order, and there are lots of tweaks to help you learn it as a passage rather than just a set of verses.

Catechisms are a question/answer method of learning Bible truth. While we don't think they are on a level with the Bible itself, they can be a very useful way of learning the truths the Bible teaches in a systematic way, and they fit well into the system LearnScripture uses for learning verses.
