They were real alright. But the science behind them definitely not.

Maybe that happend When I found that science wasn't real about dinosaurs....

I think since molin mentioned Luke, we could start with that. I will get some studying done, and if you want to put in your part, that is fine. Just be patient with others as everyday chats can be hard to do as sometimes other things get in the way.

If you are interested in researching the creation theories and want a fair and balanced approach to each viewpoint, I would recommend the following book:

Four Views on Creation, Evolution, and Intelligent Design (Counterpoints: Bible and Theology).

I believe it's literal. There is much solid scientific data to indicate the earth and the solar system is less than 10,000 years old.
Also archaeology confirms the accuracy of the Old Testament history.
Bible genealogies indicate that Adam was created around 4000 BC.
