And a late Merry Christmas greeting from me as well :) Thank you rvfc2.

rvfc2 2021-12-25 05:52

Merry Christmas, folks. I hope that you will have - or are having a blessed day!

joosep 2021-12-23 05:38

Come now, and let us reason together,
Says the Lord,
Though your sins are as scarlet,
They will be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They will be like wool.

Isaiah 1:18

rvfc2 2021-12-18 16:16

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. - Isaiah 61:10

Praises and thanksgiving be to our Lord for HE clothes us with salvation and HE covers us with righteousness - the perfect righteousness of Christ!

janet23 2021-12-18 10:16

Colossians 2:3 referring to Christ..."in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."

joosep 2021-12-18 08:21

But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and skip about like calves from the stall.

--Malachi 4:2

That's always been one of my favorite verses. Though it's also quite important to consider the context :)

rvfc2 2021-12-15 16:14

Another beloved passage from Isaiah! One of my favorite hymns is How Firm a Foundation. It is largely based on this passage. (I have also enjoyed Esther Mui's scripture song Fear Not.) I have been impressed by how many passages in Isaiah have been put to music (either the actual words or lyrics drawn from those words). Three songs came to mind this morning just from chapter 55. 🙂

joosep 2021-12-15 03:43

thank you mrsmoo, for your comment and for sharing the link too!

mrsmoo 2021-12-15 03:23

Thanks joosep. i burst forth in praise and thanks ....AND SONG when i saw your post. One of my favorite songs by Esther Mui ----I sing it often 😄 http://www.scripturesongsforworship.com/2012/06/isaiah-431-3-fear-not-for-i-have.html ~under 6 minutes

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,
Nor will the flame burn you.

--Isaiah 43:2

joosep 2021-12-14 17:22

thank you

rvfc2 2021-12-14 16:02

I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass; and forgettest the LORD thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth;
Isaiah 51:12-13a

rvfc2 2021-12-09 16:48

Isaiah 43:25

rvfc2 2021-12-09 16:47

I (God), even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

joosep 2021-12-05 06:23

20 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped.
21 He said,
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
And naked I shall return there.
The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away.
Blessed be the name of the LORD.”
22 Through all this Job did not sin nor did he blame God. (Job 1:20-22)

joosep 2021-12-04 05:48

Thank you, rvfc2, for that affirmation and reminder. That's my prayer too.

God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

--1 Corinthians 1:9.

(I was reminded of that verse by something mrsmoo said in another thread)

rvfc2 2021-12-04 05:41

What joy it is to know that our Redeemer lives and that we shall see Him; in our God-given bodies we shall look upon and worship our God.

And in the meantime... For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)

We may not see Him yet, but He lives in us and works in our heart and mind so that we choose to do the very things which please Him. It is my heart's desire that God should do this continually in me - and in all His people.

joosep 2021-12-03 03:03

As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives,
And at the last He will take His stand on the earth.
Even after my skin is destroyed,
Yet from my flesh I shall see God;
Whom I myself shall behold,
And whom my eyes will see and not another.
My heart faints within me!

--Job 19:25-27

joosep 2021-11-27 03:12

Mary then took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. John 12:3

The value of a pound of pure nard was stated by Judas in verse 4 to be 300 denarii. One denarius in those times was a standard for a day's wage. So, what Mary did here in one quick action was equivalent to nearly a year's worth of labor.

I am asking myself now, how much am I giving to the Lord? (And actually, I am not at all referring to money here -- it's easy, to give money, and yet to give nothing of yourself to the Lord. He wants us to give ourselves, our hearts, to Him. Consider Isaiah 29:13 and what the Lord had to say about the ancient Jews. But lest we say, "Oh, that could never refer to us ...." well, I am simply saying, this morning I am considering the question, how much of myself, my very heart, am I giving in love and adoration to my Maker? And in comparison, how much approval and praise do I desire from my fellow human beings?

My prayer for today, and may it be my continuous prayer throughout this day, is May my heart be given to you Lord, in true devotion; may the attitudes and thoughts of my heart be pleasing to you.

joosep 2021-11-26 04:55

Thank you, rvfc2.

This is more than one verse, but it's hard to resist :) Psalm 34:1-7 :

1 I will bless the LORD at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul will make its boast in the LORD;
The humble will hear it and rejoice.
3 O magnify the LORD with me,
And let us exalt His name together.
4 I sought the LORD, and He answered me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces will never be ashamed.
6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him
And saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, And rescues them.

rvfc2 2021-11-25 16:32

O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever. Ps. 136:1

Happy Thanksgiving!

(Tychicus - love that verse in Micah :) )

Tychicus 2021-11-21 16:15

I just noticed that rvfc2 already quoted that verse from Micah in a comment below :) I probably read it on this group's wall and then added it to my learning queue but then later forgot where I had seen it :)

Tychicus 2021-11-21 13:25

Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession?
He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in unchanging love. (Micah 7:18)

joosep 2021-11-21 03:03

He will not fear evil tidings;
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.

--Psalm 112:7 (NAS).

"He" refers back to verse 1 ... "the man (or woman) who fears the Lord"

joosep 2021-11-19 06:24

I'm grateful for your feedback! It's encouraging.

In my own case I was listening to a sermon where the Bible teacher made reference to that verse from Isaiah.

I pray your time spent reading / meditating on God's Words through Isaiah will be blessed!

rvfc2 2021-11-18 05:50

Thank you for posting this precious verse, joosep. I am currently reading through Isaiah and am repeatedly blessed by God's greatness and His lovingkindness. Haven't reached chapter 30 yet, but look forward to reading this again in the not so distant future. :-)

joosep 2021-11-17 15:53

Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you,
And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you.
For the LORD is a God of justice;
How blessed are all those who long for Him.

Isaiah 30:18

joosep 2021-11-14 10:46

Thank you for sharing that! I'm going to add that to my learning queue.

janet23 2021-11-14 10:33

I am in Isaiah in my Bible reading at the moment and I have one verse in my review list chapter 48:6 You have heard; now see all this; and will you not declare it? From this time forth I announce to you new things, hidden things that you have not known.

joosep 2021-11-14 09:31

Isaiah is such an awesome book. Hoping to someday be able to dedicate the time to studying it carefully.

rvfc2 2021-11-14 04:57

And thanks to God for the many precious gems in Isaiah! Both the warnings to His people (as in joosep's 29:14) and the affirmations of His trustworthiness and His goodness to us in salvation. He truly IS "Worthy of PRAISE," mrsmoo!

mrsmoo 2021-11-13 17:25

AMEN, AMEN and Amen. Worthy of PRAISE.... Thanks rvfc2 for sweet tears of JOY.

rvfc2 2021-11-13 16:28

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Isaiah 12:2

joosep 2021-11-12 02:29

Therefore behold, I will once again deal marvelously with this people, wondrously marvelous;
And the wisdom of their wise men will perish,
And the discernment of their discerning men will be concealed. --Isaiah 29:14

(Alluded to by Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:19-24)

To rvfc2, yes, I emphatically agree!

rvfc2 2021-11-10 06:06

Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? He retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. Micah 7:18

I'm SO grateful that our God delights to be merciful.

joosep 2021-11-06 02:29

Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;
Your walls are continually before Me.

--Isaiah 49:16. The "walls" refer to walls of protection, defense against evil, security. They are continually before Him -- on His mind, in His thoughts!

joosep 2021-11-04 01:29

68 “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people,
69 And has raised up a horn of salvation for us
In the house of David His servant--
70 As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from of old--
71 Salvation from our enemies,
And from the hand of all who hate us;
72 To show mercy toward our fathers,
And to remember His holy covenant,
73 The oath which He swore to Abraham our father,
74 To grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies,
Might serve Him without fear,
75 In holiness and righteousness before Him all our days.

(Luke 1:68-75 NAS; prophecy of Zacharias, John the Baptist's father, upon the birth of his son when Zacharias' mouth was opened after he had been made mute)

joosep 2021-11-04 01:26

Thank you for that reminder, onfire247. It's especially pertinent these days.

janet23, thank you for sharing that -- it's encouraging when we find out that brothers and sisters are thinking similar thoughts, even when separated by a huge distance across the globe.

onfire247 2021-11-01 10:54

"You shall not revile God, nor curse a ruler of your people." Exod 22:28
