Description

2 Peter 1:3 - 1 John 2:29 - April 30th tournament

Verses

  • 2 Peter 1:3: I can pray this because his divine power has bestowed on us everything necessary for life and godliness through the rich knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and excellence.

  • 2 Peter 1:4: Through these things he has bestowed on us his precious and most magnificent promises, so that by means of what was promised you may become partakers of the divine nature, after escaping the worldly corruption that is produced by evil desire.

  • 2 Peter 1:5: For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith excellence, to excellence, knowledge;

  • 2 Peter 1:6: to knowledge, self-control; to self-control, perseverance; to perseverance, godliness;

  • 2 Peter 1:7: to godliness, brotherly affection; to brotherly affection, unselfish love.

  • 2 Peter 1:8: For if these things are really yours and are continually increasing, they will keep you from becoming ineffective and unproductive in your pursuit of knowing our Lord Jesus Christ more intimately.

  • 2 Peter 1:9: But concerning the one who lacks such things - he is blind. That is to say, he is nearsighted, since he has forgotten about the cleansing of his past sins.

  • 2 Peter 1:10: Therefore, brothers and sisters, make every effort to be sure of your calling and election. For by doing this you will never stumble into sin.

  • 2 Peter 1:11: For thus an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be richly provided for you.

  • 2 Peter 1:12: Therefore, I intend to remind you constantly of these things even though you know them and are well established in the truth that you now have.

  • 2 Peter 1:16: For we did not follow cleverly concocted fables when we made known to you the power and return of our Lord Jesus Christ; no, we were eyewitnesses of his grandeur.

  • 2 Peter 1:19: Moreover, we possess the prophetic word as an altogether reliable thing. You do well if you pay attention to this as you would to a light shining in a murky place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

  • 2 Peter 1:20: Above all, you do well if you recognize this: No prophecy of scripture ever comes about by the prophet's own imagination,

  • 2 Peter 1:21: for no prophecy was ever borne of human impulse; rather, men carried along by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

  • 2 Peter 2:9: - if so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from their trials, and to reserve the unrighteous for punishment at the day of judgment,

  • 2 Peter 2:18: For by speaking high-sounding but empty words they are able to entice, with fleshly desires and with debauchery, people who have just escaped from those who reside in error.

  • 2 Peter 2:19: Although these false teachers promise such people freedom, they themselves are enslaved to immorality. For whatever a person succumbs to, to that he is enslaved.

  • 2 Peter 2:20: For if after they have escaped the filthy things of the world through the rich knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they again get entangled in them and succumb to them, their last state has become worse for them than their first.

  • 2 Peter 2:21: For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than, having known it, to turn back from the holy commandment that had been delivered to them.

  • 2 Peter 2:22: They are illustrations of this true proverb: "A dog returns to its own vomit," and "A sow, after washing herself, wallows in the mire."

  • 2 Peter 3:3: Above all, understand this: In the last days blatant scoffers will come, being propelled by their own evil urges

  • 2 Peter 3:4: and saying, "Where is his promised return? For ever since our ancestors died, all things have continued as they were from the beginning of creation."

  • 2 Peter 3:8: Now, dear friends, do not let this one thing escape your notice, that a single day is like a thousand years with the Lord and a thousand years are like a single day.

  • 2 Peter 3:9: The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some regard slowness, but is being patient toward you, because he does not wish for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

  • 2 Peter 3:10: But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; when it comes, the heavens will disappear with a horrific noise, and the celestial bodies will melt away in a blaze, and the earth and every deed done on it will be laid bare.

  • 2 Peter 3:11: Since all these things are to melt away in this manner, what sort of people must we be, conducting our lives in holiness and godliness,

  • 2 Peter 3:13: But, according to his promise, we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness truly resides.

  • 2 Peter 3:14: Therefore, dear friends, since you are waiting for these things, strive to be found at peace, without spot or blemish, when you come into his presence.

  • 2 Peter 3:17: Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard that you do not get led astray by the error of these unprincipled men and fall from your firm grasp on the truth.

  • 2 Peter 3:18: But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the honor both now and on that eternal day.

  • 1 John 1:4: Thus we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.

  • 1 John 1:5: Now this is the gospel message we have heard from him and announce to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all.

  • 1 John 1:6: If we say we have fellowship with him and yet keep on walking in the darkness, we are lying and not practicing the truth.

  • 1 John 1:7: But if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

  • 1 John 1:8: If we say we do not bear the guilt of sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.

  • 1 John 1:9: But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness.

  • 1 John 1:10: If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.

  • 1 John 2:1: (My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.) But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous One,

  • 1 John 2:2: and he himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for our sins but also for the whole world.

  • 1 John 2:3: Now by this we know that we have come to know God: if we keep his commandments.

  • 1 John 2:4: The one who says "I have come to know God" and yet does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in such a person.

  • 1 John 2:5: But whoever obeys his word, truly in this person the love of God has been perfected. By this we know that we are in him.

  • 1 John 2:9: The one who says he is in the light but still hates his fellow Christian is still in the darkness.

  • 1 John 2:10: The one who loves his fellow Christian resides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.

  • 1 John 2:11: But the one who hates his fellow Christian is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

  • 1 John 2:12: I am writing to you, little children, that your sins have been forgiven because of his name.

  • 1 John 2:15: Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him,

  • 1 John 2:16: because all that is in the world (the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the arrogance produced by material possessions) is not from the Father, but is from the world.

  • 1 John 2:17: And the world is passing away with all its desires, but the person who does the will of God remains forever.

  • 1 John 2:28: And now, little children, remain in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink away from him in shame when he comes back.

  • 1 John 2:29: If you know that he is righteous, you also know that everyone who practices righteousness has been fathered by him.
