Verses

  • Psalm 33:16-17: No king is delivered by his vast army; a warrior is not saved by his great might. A horse disappoints those who trust in it for victory; despite its great strength, it cannot deliver.

  • Proverbs 14:30: A tranquil spirit revives the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones.

  • Isaiah 25:1: O LORD, you are my God! I will exalt you in praise, I will extol your fame. For you have done extraordinary things, and executed plans made long ago exactly as you decreed.

  • Isaiah 26:3: You keep completely safe the people who maintain their faith, for they trust in you.

  • Jeremiah 9:23-24: The LORD says, "Wise people should not boast that they are wise. Powerful people should not boast that they are powerful. Rich people should not boast that they are rich. If people want to boast, they should boast about this: They should boast that they understand and know me. They should boast that they know and understand that I, the LORD, act out of faithfulness, fairness, and justice in the earth and that I desire people to do these things," says the LORD.

  • Ezekiel 36:26: I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will remove the heart of stone from your body and give you a heart of flesh.

  • Daniel 9:19: O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, pay attention, and act! Don't delay, for your own sake, O my God! For your city and your people are called by your name."

  • Joel 2:12-13: "Yet even now," the LORD says, "return to me with all your heart - with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Tear your hearts, not just your garments!" Return to the LORD your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and boundless in loyal love - often relenting from calamitous punishment.

  • Luke 18:13-14: The tax collector, however, stood far off and would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, be merciful to me, sinner that I am!' I tell you that this man went down to his home justified rather than the Pharisee. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."

  • 1 Corinthians 6:12: "All things are lawful for me" - but not everything is beneficial. "All things are lawful for me" - but I will not be controlled by anything.

  • 1 Corinthians 10:31: So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.
