Description

Son's of God, Heir's of God, Adopted by God

For any of us considering adopting children. Like God has adopted us through Christ this is a basic set of verses on our adoption and our adoption of orphans.

Verses

  • John 14:18: "I will not abandon you as orphans, I will come to you.

  • Galatians 4:4-7: But when the appropriate time had come, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we may be adopted as sons with full rights. And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, who calls "Abba! Father!" So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if you are a son, then you are also an heir through God.

  • Galatians 3:26: For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith.

  • 1 John 3:1: (See what sort of love the Father has given to us: that we should be called God's children - and indeed we are! For this reason the world does not know us: because it did not know him.

  • 1 John 3:2: Dear friends, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that whenever it is revealed we will be like him, because we will see him just as he is.

  • Isaiah 40:28: Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is an eternal God, the creator of the whole earth. He does not get tired or weary; there is no limit to his wisdom.

  • Isaiah 43:5: Don't be afraid, for I am with you. From the east I will bring your descendants; from the west I will gather you.

  • 1 Samuel 1:27: I prayed for this boy, and the LORD has given me the request that I asked of him.

  • Romans 8:15: For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, "Abba, Father."

  • Romans 8:23: Not only this, but we ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies.

  • Ephesians 1:4-6: For he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemished in his sight in love. He did this by predestining us to adoption as his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasure of his will - to the praise of the glory of his grace that he has freely bestowed on us in his dearly loved Son.

  • Psalm 68:5-6: He is a father to the fatherless and an advocate for widows. God rules from his holy palace. God settles those who have been deserted in their own homes; he frees prisoners and grants them prosperity. But sinful rebels live in the desert.

  • Matthew 18:5: And whoever welcomes a child like this in my name welcomes me.
