It has always been God's desire that we be in his presence and experience relationship with him. It is the whole story of Scripture.

Gen 3:8 - God created humanity to be in face-to-face presence with him in the Garden.
Exod 25:8 - God wanted a Tabernacle built for him to dwell in the presence of his people.
2 Chron 7:2 - God's presence moves into the Temple during the dedication of the building.
2 Chron 7:16 - God expresses his desire to be in his people's presence forever in the Temple.
John 1:14 - God's presence takes human form in the body of Jesus.
Eph 2:22 - Our bodies are the dwelling place for the presence of God through the Holy Spirit.
Rev 21:3 - God will dwell with us again face-to-face in New Jerusalem.

Genesis 3:8: Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God moving about in the orchard at the breezy time of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the orchard.
Exodus 25:8: Let them make for me a sanctuary, so that I may live among them.
2 Chronicles 7:2: The priests were unable to enter the LORD's temple because the LORD's splendor filled the LORD's temple.
2 Chronicles 7:16: Now I have chosen and consecrated this temple by making it my permanent home; I will be constantly present there.
John 1:14: Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory - the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father.
Ephesians 2:22: in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
Revelation 21:3: And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: "Look! The residence of God is among human beings. He will live among them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them.
