  1. Faith is the Way the Father Lives and Functions Past, Present, and Future (Heb 11:1-3; Psa 33:6; Psa 33:9)
    1. In the past, God created the universe by faith
    2. In the present, God is never afraid, defeated, despondent, or despairing
  2. Faith is a Gift from God that must be received through faith (Gal 2:21; Eph 2:8-9; Rom 5:1-2)
    1. Grace is a gift from God
    2. Not receiving a gift from God frustrates Him
    3. A gift from God cannot be received unless it is grabbed by hands of faith
  3. We must walk by faith to please God (Heb 11:5-6; Rom 1:17; Hab 2:4; Gal 3:11; Heb 10:38)
    1. Walking by faith pleases God
    2. God wants us to live by faith to overcome
  4. Faith comes from the illumination of God's Word (Mark 11:22; Rom 12:3)
    1. God has given us a measure of his faith as part of being a new creation
    2. Revelation is received by faith
  5. Faith is progressively trained over time (2 Cor 5:7, 2 Cor 10:3-5; 1 John 5:4-5; 1 Tim 6:12; 1 John 4:4; James 4:7; 2 Tim 4:7; Gal 2:16, 20; Eph 3:11-12)
    1. Faith must be developed over time by taking steps of faith
    2. Faith is a fight, and you either fight or you get devoured
    3. Because Jesus lived by faith, we must also live by faith
  6. Modern examples of living by faith (Phil 4:13; Prov 3:24; 1 Thes 5:11; Luke 5:13; 2 Cor 1:3-4)
    1. You can overcome trouble sleeping through the Word
    2. You can speak faith into another person's life
    3. You can receive healing through faith
    4. You can overcome depression through faith

  • Hebrews 11:1-2: Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see. For by it the people of old received God's commendation.

  • Psalm 33:6: By the LORD's decree the heavens were made; by a mere word from his mouth all the stars in the sky were created.

  • Psalm 33:9: For he spoke, and it came into existence, he issued the decree, and it stood firm.

  • Galatians 2:21: I do not set aside God's grace, because if righteousness could come through the law, then Christ died for nothing!

  • Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast.

  • Romans 5:1-2: Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of God's glory.

  • Hebrews 11:5: By faith Enoch was taken up so that he did not see death, and he was not to be found because God took him up. For before his removal he had been commended as having pleased God.

  • Hebrews 11:6: Now without faith it is impossible to please him, for the one who approaches God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

  • Romans 1:17: For the righteousness of God is revealed in the gospel from faith to faith, just as it is written, "The righteous by faith will live."

  • Habakkuk 2:4: Look, the one whose desires are not upright will faint from exhaustion, but the person of integrity will live because of his faithfulness.

  • Galatians 3:11: Now it is clear no one is justified before God by the law, because the righteous one will live by faith.

  • Hebrews 10:38: But my righteous one will live by faith, and if he shrinks back, I take no pleasure in him.

  • Mark 11:22: Jesus said to them, "Have faith in God.

  • Romans 12:3: For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you a measure of faith.

  • 2 Corinthians 5:7: for we live by faith, not by sight.

  • 2 Corinthians 10:3-5: For though we live as human beings, we do not wage war according to human standards, for the weapons of our warfare are not human weapons, but are made powerful by God for tearing down strongholds. We tear down arguments and every arrogant obstacle that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obey Christ.

  • 1 John 5:4-5: because everyone who has been fathered by God conquers the world. This is the conquering power that has conquered the world: our faith. Now who is the person who has conquered the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

  • 1 Timothy 6:12: Compete well for the faith and lay hold of that eternal life you were called for and made your good confession for in the presence of many witnesses.

  • 1 John 4:4: You are from God, little children, and have conquered them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

  • James 4:7: So submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you.

  • 2 Timothy 4:7: I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith!

  • Galatians 2:16: yet we know that no one is justified by the works of the law but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by the faithfulness of Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

  • Galatians 2:20: I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So the life I now live in the body, I live because of the faithfulness of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

  • Ephesians 3:11-12: This was according to the eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confident access to God because of Christ's faithfulness.

  • Philippians 4:13: I am able to do all things through the one who strengthens me.

  • Proverbs 3:24: When you lie down you will not be filled with fear; when you lie down your sleep will be pleasant.

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:11: Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, just as you are in fact doing.

  • Luke 5:13: So he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing. Be clean!" And immediately the leprosy left him.

  • 2 Corinthians 1:3-4: Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
