Description

While marriage is under attack on every hand, these verses will help us keep it as God intended.

Verses

  • Genesis 2:24: That is why a man leaves his father and mother and unites with his wife, and they become a new family.

  • Genesis 2:18: The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a companion for him who corresponds to him."

  • Mark 10:6-9: But from the beginning of creation he made them male and female. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."

  • Colossians 3:18-19: Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them.

  • Titus 2:4-5: In this way they will train the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be self-controlled, pure, fulfilling their duties at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the message of God may not be discredited.

  • Ephesians 5:22-24: Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord, because the husband is the head of the wife as also Christ is the head of the church - he himself being the savior of the body. But as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

  • Ephesians 5:25-28: Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her to sanctify her by cleansing her with the washing of the water by the word, so that he may present the church to himself as glorious - not having a stain or wrinkle, or any such blemish, but holy and blameless. In the same way husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

  • Mark 10:11: So he told them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her.

  • Exodus 20:14: "You shall not commit adultery.

  • 1 Corinthians 7:10-11: To the married I give this command - not I, but the Lord - a wife should not divorce a husband (but if she does, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband), and a husband should not divorce his wife.
