Description

Marriage in the Lord

Verses

  • Genesis 2:22-24: Then the LORD God made a woman from the part he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. Then the man said, "This one at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; this one will be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man." That is why a man leaves his father and mother and unites with his wife, and they become a new family.

  • Proverbs 5:18-19: May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in your young wife - a loving doe, a graceful deer; may her breasts satisfy you at all times, may you be captivated by her love always.

  • Proverbs 12:4: A noble wife is the crown of her husband, but the wife who acts shamefully is like rottenness in his bones.

  • Proverbs 18:22: The one who finds a wife finds what is enjoyable, and receives a pleasurable gift from the LORD.

  • Proverbs 19:14: A house and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

  • Proverbs 20:6-7: Many people profess their loyalty, but a faithful person - who can find? The righteous person behaves in integrity; blessed are his children after him.

  • Proverbs 30:18-19: There are three things that are too wonderful for me, four that I do not understand: the way of an eagle in the sky, the way of a snake on a rock, the way of a ship in the sea, and the way of a man with a woman.

  • Proverbs 31:10: Who can find a wife of noble character? For her value is far more than rubies.

  • Deuteronomy 24:5: When a man is newly married, he need not go into the army nor be obligated in any way; he must be free to stay at home for a full year and bring joy to the wife he has married.

  • Matthew 19:4-6: He answered, "Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator made them male and female, and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and will be united with his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."

  • Hebrews 13:4-7: Marriage must be honored among all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge sexually immoral people and adulterers. Your conduct must be free from the love of money and you must be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you and I will never abandon you." So we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Remember your leaders, who spoke God's message to you; reflect on the outcome of their lives and imitate their faith.

  • Mark 10:6-9: But from the beginning of creation he made them male and female. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."
