Verses that inspired Christian's fleeing the City of Destruction - each group will ten verses/passages that are directly/indirectly quoted.

Verses

  • Psalm 38:4: For my sins overwhelm me; like a heavy load, they are too much for me to bear.

  • Habakkuk 1:2-3: How long, LORD, must I cry for help? But you do not listen! I call out to you, "Violence!" But you do not intervene! Why do you force me to witness injustice? Why do you put up with wrongdoing? Destruction and violence confront me; conflict is present and one must endure strife.

  • Acts 16:30-31: Then he brought them outside and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household."

  • Hebrews 9:27: And just as people are appointed to die once, and then to face judgment,

  • Job 10:21-22: before I depart, never to return, to the land of darkness and the deepest shadow, to the land of utter darkness, like the deepest darkness, and the deepest shadow and disorder, where even the light is like darkness."

  • Ezekiel 22:14: Can your heart endure, or can your hands be strong when I deal with you? I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will do it!

  • Isaiah 30:33: For the burial place is already prepared; it has been made deep and wide for the king. The firewood is piled high on it. The LORD's breath, like a stream flowing with brimstone, will ignite it.

  • Matthew 3:7: But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "You offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

  • Matthew 7:13-14: "Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. But the gate is narrow and the way is difficult that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

  • 2 Peter 1:19: Moreover, we possess the prophetic word as an altogether reliable thing. You do well if you pay attention to this as you would to a light shining in a murky place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
