Verses

  • Exodus 4:11-12: The LORD said to him, "Who gave a mouth to man, or who makes a person mute or deaf or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD? So now go, and I will be with your mouth and will teach you what you must say."

  • Jeremiah 1:6-8: I answered, "Oh, Lord God, I really do not know how to speak well enough for that, for I am too young." The LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I am too young.' But go to whomever I send you and say whatever I tell you. Do not be afraid of those to whom I send you, for I will be with you to protect you," says the LORD.

  • Jeremiah 1:9-10: Then the LORD reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, "I will most assuredly give you the words you are to speak for me. Know for certain that I hereby give you the authority to announce to nations and kingdoms that they will be uprooted and torn down, destroyed and demolished, rebuilt and firmly planted."

  • Ezekiel 3:3-4: He said to me, "Son of man, feed your stomach and fill your belly with this scroll I am giving to you." So I ate it, and it was sweet like honey in my mouth. He said to me, "Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak my words to them.

  • Malachi 2:6-7: He taught what was true; sinful words were not found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and integrity, and he turned many people away from sin. For the lips of a priest should preserve knowledge of sacred things, and people should seek instruction from him because he is the messenger of the LORD who rules over all.

  • Matthew 3:1-2: In those days John the Baptist came into the wilderness of Judea proclaiming, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

  • Mark 1:7-8: He proclaimed, "One more powerful than I am is coming after me; I am not worthy to bend down and untie the strap of his sandals. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."

But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they teach. They tie up heavy loads, hard to carry, and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing even to lift a finger to move them.
