JDJDJD started learning The High Priestly Prayer of Christ

joosep 2023-12-27 02:38

I would like to wish to you and your family, a belated Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

JDJDJD 2023-12-28 23:54

Thank you Joosep. And you too. It’s been a difficult year when I have lost both my mum and my dad. Thankfully they are both now with the Lord. But still it’s been a tough year. And I miss them both so much.

I pray the Lord's continuing comfort for you. I know the feeling, I've been missing my mom and dad for many years now, and still miss them. I'm very glad to hear that your mum and dad were believers. God's peace and rest upon you.

I wrote, "I know the feeling" but it's not exactly true. You've lost both in the same year; that makes it especially difficult, in a way that was not so for me.

JD .. I pray the Lord's comfort and peace be with you...I know how you feel

jcosimi 2023-12-29 03:56

Like Joosep said ...the sting of loss may be with you for years to come...I think that's a sign that you were blessed with good parents ..mine passed in 2007 and I still miss their love...but I know that The Father has something good planned for us even if in our human courtroom judges God Unjust and Unwise...hang in there and keep believing in Jesus (I know you will)...

JD - as you’re learning John 17, I pray that in 2024 that the Father will keep you in his name and that the joy of Jesus may be fulfilled in you. (John 17:11,13)

joosep 2023-12-29 09:58

amen

Amen

Thank you all so much for your comments. I would like to bring glory to God through this trial. Coming on the back of my cancer diagnosis it’s been a bit of a year. But the Lord has been so close through it all. I can definitely say He has given me everything I needed and more.

I pray that the Lord Jesus be with you to strengthen and comfort you. Amen.

Amen.

Hello JDJDJD. I would like to ask if I may ... or I would like to say, I am praying for your good health. If you feel at ease doing so, let us know how you're doing.

Thanks so much Joosep. That means a lot to me. I’m doing very much better these days.
Health wise. Very thankful to the Lord. Mum and Dad both still leave a huge hole.
I’m thinking of starting a new account on this site to start with a clean slate. I am doing a lot of reading now but I don’t get as much out of that as slowly learning/meditating on scripture. Would welcome your prayer that I can get back to that. Whether to clean up this account or start a new one. And whether to cut out/down on the reading to make room for learning/meditating again.

JD, I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better. If you do make a new account, please let us know your new name. You are a valued friend on this site to many of us.

Glad to hear your health is better. I’d say it’s good to find a balance between studying the Bible (with reference texts etc) and reading the Bible (I especially like the Lectio Divina approach) and learning passages from the Bible (using LearnScripture). I pray that God will lead you in the way that’s right for you.

I'm also glad to hear you are feeling better, JDJDJD, and I too feel that "hole" in my own way. Does Romans 8:23 apply here? and to PeterP, this is a balance I need to find also. I've been listening to a lot of good Bible teachers recently, but I also need a disciplined time to sit down and study ... and also the slow repetition found here. Thanks for that tip, I think I'll Google "Lectio Divina".
