I am starting James 2 It's probably going to be hard but I will try to memorize it.

Lol

MrHoney9 2017-05-01 14:32

Oh we are talking about memorizing books of the bible.

MrHoney9 2017-05-01 14:31

What are we talking about? I mean, Like I would post something about tribulation but I don't know what we are talking about.

Gilligan 2017-05-01 07:54

I'm giving it a go! As Peter says it will be challenging but I'm sure we will be blessed by learning it.

Robinshe 2017-05-01 06:13

In general I like doing the chapter of the month, but these days I´m enjoying Acts so much that I think I´m going to pass on Proverbs this time.

PeterP 2017-05-01 06:09

Who else is trying Proverbs 16 in May? I reckon it might be tricky to memorise, because each one looks like a sentence on its own, so there will not be such an obvious flow from one verse to the next as there is in other passages.

PeterP 2017-04-12 12:39

Psalm 67 is much easier in comparison. Just 7 verses, and two of those are the same. 😀
Let all the peoples praise him!

Gilligan 2017-04-07 08:10

I'm enjoying Matthew 5 but its a long haul in a month at my verse-a-day pace! I'll finish tomorrow, I'm looking forward to moving on to Psalm 67 on Sunday.

PeterP 2017-03-31 13:46

How have you got on with Matthew 5? I enjoyed finding lots of familiar teaching and learning it in context. And I never noticed the last verse before now: 'be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect'. That mirrors the phrase that comes so often in Leviticus and Deuteronomy: 'be holy as I am holy.'

Sylavash 2017-02-13 05:55

Yeah I started the Chapter early also. It makes sense why February was so short with such a hard one for March. It it going to be long but it is packed with a lot of good stuff.

kcr21 2017-02-13 04:40

I'm already memorizing Matthew 5. I know about a fifth of it though.
FYI I'm not in this group...yet.

Robinshe 2017-02-12 20:46

Maybe that´s why we had Psalm 42 in February - we´re meant to get into Matthew a little bit early?

PeterP 2017-02-12 20:04

Yes, Matthew 5 looks a challenge - more than one month's work for me! I have split it into two verse sets to make it easier to revise later, because I don't often have the time to revise 48 verses at one sitting.

Sylavash 2017-02-10 14:21

Looking ahead, Matthew 5 is 48 verses long... That is a long one...

Sylavash 2017-02-02 23:55

These chapters are looking pretty good too me also, on February, psalm 42 and I think it is really good.

kcr21 2017-01-07 22:45

Interesting...I was looking at the 2017 list and a bunch of chapters were ones I thought about memorizing, two of them being ones I am already memorizing. When I'm not so busy all the time, I will probably join you guys. Sorry I can't do it right now!

GSHd 2017-01-07 12:38

Join this group, download the full list for 2017 from the link posted by the founder of the group, and start memorizing Joshua 1 together with us.

Robinshe 2017-01-07 11:33

Come join us!

kcr21 2017-01-07 03:44

Is this for a certain Bible study or is it free to anyone? Just want to know, thanks :-)

Robinshe 2017-01-06 22:09

I´m in! "The Lord your God will be with you" is good to remember, but it´s never a good sign when someone starts a sentence to you with "be strong and courageous" and repeats it several times... :-)

PeterP 2017-01-06 21:28

Yes, I'm learning Joshua 1 too, one verse per day. I love the way God repeats "be strong and courageous" three times - obviously he knew that Joshua, and we too, would have trouble getting it, if he just said it once!

GSHd 2017-01-06 19:16

Happy New Year! I've started learning Joshua 1 rather late, too. I have recently joined this group and I was kind of wondering how things go. Well, I sort of figured it out eventually, and started learning one verse a day besides my daily portion from John's epistles. Indeed Joshua 1 had been on the back of my mind for quite a long time.

Gilligan 2017-01-06 16:04

Happy New Year! I wondered if anyone else is learning Joshua 1 this month. I hadn't intended to learn this months chapter but it is one that has been in my mind a lot recently. I'm making a late start but its a relatively short chapter and I learnt a few verses from it recently.

Robinshe 2016-12-19 15:28

Amen!

PeterP 2016-12-19 07:21

Done! But I had a head start, because I learnt the first 7 verses last year sometime. It's a great end to the Bible, and I look forward to being there. Come, Lord Jesus!

Robinshe 2016-12-18 08:12

How´s it going? I´m enjoying this chapter - a little different from passages I am more familiar with. And there are echoes of the whole Bible throughout it all: the tree of life (Genesis 3), Jesus as the root (Isaiah 11), the light (John 1), the invitation for all to come and drink living water (John 4) without price (Isaiah 55)...it all comes together in this last chapter :-)

PeterP 2016-12-07 07:20

Actually, God abolishes darkness in Rev 22, doesn't he? In Gen 1 there was darkness until God created light, then God separated the light from the darkness. In John 1, the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not overcome it. And in Rev 22 the darkness is removed, night is no more, and God himself is our light.
I agree with you - nice!

Robinshe 2016-12-06 21:31

So in Genesis 1, the first thing God does is create light. In John 1, the Word becomes light and shines in the darkness and dwells with us. And now in Revelation 22, he finishes by abolishing light - because He himself is light, and nothing will ever again be in shadow. Nice.

Xicama 2016-12-02 05:41

That's interesting. Me, too. I mean I finished the sermon of the mount and thought Revelation 22 would make a perfect end of the year chapter. I started two days early, though. 😊

PeterP 2016-12-01 20:29

Dec 1st. Having enjoyed Matthew 6 and 7 the last two months, I've decided to come back to the schedule here for Revelation 22. It seems a fitting end to the year.

Gilligan 2016-10-29 06:57

I'm finished too, a good chapter. Thanks for the company!

Sylavash 2016-10-29 02:11

i finished today, not as solid as last months but I finished.

Robinshe 2016-10-27 19:42

Done! I will be kind! And thankful that God in Christ forgave me :-)

Gilligan 2016-10-25 11:14

I'm getting there and on course to finish the chapter. Agree its a great chapter but difficult to learn.

Sylavash 2016-10-25 05:25

I was doing well, a bit ahead then I had family come to visit. very distracting so I am a bit behind also. but I plan on cracking down the next couple days.

Robinshe 2016-10-24 18:20

I´m also a little bit behind - I´ve started Matthew as well, and am trying to keep a little higher pace so it doesn´t take me forever. But that has slowed down my Ephesians. "Be angry" is an interesting way to start a Bible verse, but I understand that to mean "fair enough that things make you feel angry, but don´t let that cause you to sin". And the part about not letting the sun go down is great relationship advice - isn´t that also in the Proverbs or Psalms somewhere? Or is it just in Ephesians?

Xicama 2016-10-24 04:39

I'm lagging behind a little bit, because I learned a couple of other verses in between. But it's a great chapter! And not always the easiest verses to remember, so I would very much agree that above 90% is very successful!

PeterP 2016-10-23 19:57

How are you all getting on? Ephesians 4 just came up for me to review, and I got at least 90% in all but six of the verses, which I count as reasonably successful. (It must be about a year ago I started it.)
