Our family had stopped buying Christmas tree's entirely, and we have instead bought a fun study for kids for Easter. They were resurection eggs! Lots of fun!

Dear Christmas Haters Group: when I posted on your wall, I had no intention of attacking your group as I fully accept that Christmas is a pagan/Roman Catholic festival. My main point was that when we believe passionately in something, we should take care that we correct fellow brethren in love, with gentleness and humility, avoiding causes of offence (Romans 14, Ephesians 4,32, Ephesians 4,15). This I felt was lacking in some of the responses. This is a public group with many public comments so people have a right to and will challenge you. WarriorfortheLord, we should humbly agree to disagree? However please be careful not to imply that people with a different view simply haven't studied the scripture enough (1Corinthians 10,12). Jeremiah (as Matthew Henry agrees) refers to idolatry in the same terms as Isaiah 40: "To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him? The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains. He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved." There are better verses to use to justify not celebrating Christmas than Jeremiah. Just because it sounds a bit like Christmas tree doesn't mean it is.
I have said my piece. Can I suggest that you make your group private so as not to cause offence and I apologise if I have caused any offence to you all. I will not be posting again.

And to the people who have came against this group, please, just simply leave. This group was for Christmas HATERS, not Christmas LOVERS. Although I do understand the fact that you only want to defend what you believe is true, I just can't stand the fact that you guys celebrate this. It's blatantly pagan and I don't see how Jeremiah 10: 2-4 DOESN'T point to a Baal Bush.

well kiwimatt if you would read it more closely and study it out then you will see what we are talking about. those verses are totally talking about the Christmas tree. for an example: look at verse 4

4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

now days they deck that pagan Christmas tree with gold and silver balls.(which if you look into it you will notice that it is pointing to the sun god Baal so its not a thing that is pleasing to the Lord!)
and people cut it out of the forest and everything, just like the verse says. so there is no doubt in my mind that it is talking about the Christmas tree. and if you thing other wise for one wild second then I urge you to study out the thing which we as Christians are commanded to. the bible says a spiritual man judgeth all things. and judgeth basically means to try out. try the reins like the lord testeth the hearts of men.

WarriorfortheLord... I happen to agree that Christmas, and other festivals are not appointed by God to be observed by man. However, Jeremiah 10 2-4 does not refer to Christmas trees but to the creation of idols and the practice of idolatry, which the Jews in captivity in Babylon were to be purged of. Strong doctrine and convictions are good, but they are nothing without love to our fellow Christians. Be patient with the brethren as per Romans 14. 1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. 2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. 3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. 4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. 5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it.

Amen! Holidays are pagan, and Christ-mass is Roman Catholic!

well apparently you have not been reading your Bible because if you did you would know that the holidays are defiantly pagan!
look at this passage in Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 10:2-4

3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

and if you don't think that this means a Christmas tree then you are dead wrong! that is so talking about the Christmas tree its not even funny. it says that the HEATHEN do that and the HEATHEN do not inherit the kingdom of God so we should not be acting like the HEATHEN and following their wicked ways! the Bible says that we Christians should be separate from the world! and celebrating Christmas is pagan! it is of this world! Jesus said we are to be not of this world! and one more thing that you should know is the fact that December 25 is the HEATHEN Baal birthday. it was Baals birthday. and that means that you are partaking in the heathens sin. Baal had the Prophets of God killed. it is not of God! people are saying we need to put Christ back into Christmas but the problem is the fact that the Lord has NEVER EVER been in the wicked holiday Christmas. also December 25 is a very important day for the occult. they do more human sacrifices and animal sacrifices then, then on Halloween. God wants his people to NOT partake in the sin of Christmas! Its not for Gods people! the Devil has deceived most Christians into doing it. and its wicked! God is very angry about. i have never partook in Christmas and praise God i never will!!!
