Meditate on God’s word. Don’t just recite it, but prayerfully, slowly, dwell on the words. Think through them and what they mean, and pray that God will speak to you through them.

Your time of memorizing and your time of meditating on God’s word are not the same time. One is academic, that we do repeatedly with a goal in mind, to memorize the words. The other comes after we have them memorized, and is more thoughtful and slow and intentional.

I agree with MarkAnthony and with JDJDJD, and just want to say treeswallow, just keep pressing on. Taking the time to pray before reviewing your verses is important. Perhaps making it a point to go slower and to lower the number of verses you review. But mainly I want to say, to just keep pressing on. Emotions change all the time, but the word of God does not change. Psalm 1 talks about how the person who meditates on the Lord will be like a tree planted by streams of water. It yields its fruit in its season. Fruit doesn't come instantly :) It comes in its season. So my advice for myself, 'cause I need it too!! and for you is to keep on and wait patiently for that fruit to grow.

The fact the question was posed, and that you still have that desire for that deeper meaning tells me that the Holy Spirit is still striving with you. The fact that there's a struggle or even discouragement, tells me the enemy sees what's going on, and he's trying to force a disconnect.

One thing I've learned regarding the Bible lately is that it will speak for itself if you allow it, going line upon line, and precept upon precept. You have this one book, yet different groups around the globe believing different things shows the impact of man's interpretation. But if you allow it speak for itself, it can blow you away.

Jeremiah 29:13 simply says if we search for God with all our hearts, with everything we have, we WILL find Him. The enemy wants to stop this. But it's not his choice, it's ours. He can't have my choice.

So I'd just like to encourage you to press on. When we make the right choice, we'll end up with fruits of the Spirit. We're all in this together. 😀

That’s something I struggle with too. I think praying for the Lord to help you with that is the answer. I have just been asking the Lord to use these scriptures to speak to my heart. I know the Lord will answer me and I always regret not asking earlier, and more often.

Hi all! I have a question, and I thought this would be a good place to ask it. I'm sure this question has been answered many times.

Any tips on how to get verses from your head to your heart? I'm really having a hard time, I know the Scriptures, but they don't seem to be hitting me as hard as they once did. I need them to move that incredibly long 18 inches from my brain to my soul. I'm starting to get discouraged... Any advice?

I found those words to be comforting this morning, because I'm experiencing some persistent health problems. Thank you for sharing those words which helped me to put my focus on our Good Shepherd. "In the valley" is also a phrase I will remember.

May God and His presence, comfort, and healing continue to be very present with you.
