Hello everyone. I was public schooled up to 2nd grade and then 3rd grade was half private school half homeschool and then 4th and up was homeschooled. What curriculum does everyone use. So far I've used Abeka, Saxon Math (BJU), Math-U-See, Notgrass History, and Masterbooks. I enjoy Masterbooks because I live with my grandmother and she's homeschooling me and my younger two siblings. My youngest sibling has lots of problems understanding his schoolwork so most of the day she's helping him and then is too tired to answer questions that I have. My younger sister also feels this way but she has videos for her classes so its easier for her. She also doesnt have a lot of time so my schoolwork often goes uncorrected for a few weeks before she looks at it. Is there a curriculum that would help me with this?
I've read your comment about your educational situation. Personally, I would go for an Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) They help me learn a lot more than when I went to public school. The work comes in these packets, but you can also do the online version which will score itself. In the online version, it'll mark your answers as correct or not and will allow you to fix your mistakes. The work allows you to learn at your own pace while incorporating God and His Word into the curriculum. They have Math, English, Science, Social Studies, ect. I hope this could be of some help.
I don’t know if you saw my earlier comments, but I asked my grown kids for ideas because we were in a similar situation with the youngest having learning disabilities and often I didn’t have much time for the others. I couldn’t think of a better curriculum, though Abeka offers options that include them being the instructors so you could ask them questions and they would correct your work, but it is much more expensive. Nathan892’s suggestion sounds good. I remember that I started having my children correct their own daily work while I corrected the quizzes and tests to make sure they were really ‘getting’ it. That really helped them, and I wasn’t so overwhelmed. Also, my daughter suggested a study partner or being a part of a bigger homeschool community if you are able. This might provide you all with more resources. Praying for you and your family. Homeschooling is great, but it can be hard. I think my kids are mostly thankful, even with the difficulties, and most importantly God works through it all no matter what curriculum.
