Bethia, my understanding is that when you get 100%, only if you select βreview in 12 monthsβ instead of the βfinishedβ option will the verse be given to you again.
If you set it to the finished option you will never see it again. You should, however, be able to review the verse again manually by browsing to the set you've created (assuming it is not a selection set) by following these steps:
1. Browse to the passage set 2. Click the "Learn" button again. 3. Click the three bar icon by the verse percentage and select "Test instead of read" 4. Type the verse and then choose the 12 month option
If it is a selection set, it is a bit more complicated. You can create a passage set for the selected verses and then follow the instructions above to re-enable the 12 month option.
Mind you, I have not mastered a verse yet. That being said, based upon the conversations I've seen on here in the past the steps above should work. I'll try it myself any day now when one of these 99%ers finally switch over to 100%.
Bethia, I like to review verses much more often than the system allows. I want to be able to recite them anywhere, anytime! IMHO the system here doesn't give enough reviews per verse and doesn't have the option to shorten to review time. The way to override the system is to hit "Reset Progress". Once you fully learn a verse, you won't get this option anymore.
However, you can reset your favorite verses by this method: Your name> Verse Progress > Hamburger icon > Practise ("your favorite verse") > Reset Progress
If there is a shorter way, I haven't found it. I think the method described by Onfire doesn't earn you any points, and I don't think it resets the progress.
I agree with you, Saintman. I was having trouble where the intervals would get too long. I ended up going with a manual system where I created my own private groups with individual intervals listed in the group name. Here are the tiers I currently use with the actual titles of some of my groups:
Every day I start with my new verse, and then do my individual verse reviews. Then I go down the list starting at the top. I review the Daily sets until I know the narrative progression from verse to verse. Even and Odd are the calendar day, and it also corresponds to the number of the chapter. I advance the set from Even/Odd once I can do the verses with few mistakes. From there, I advance them based upon how well I remember them. I will also drop them down in cycles if I start to forget. I may have to expand my categories, but for now I'm comfortable reviewing each set at least once a month.
Using this method does continue to give you points. It also shows up on your verse reviews (the top right corner on the main screen) the first time you review it. For those times where I review the same set over and over, it will still show the number of verses reviewed on the stats graph no matter how many times you review it (which is what most people see anyway). I have reset the progress on several verses as well, but I found that I'd eventually hit the interval gap where I'd forget again. Plus it messes with your achievements and stats. Doing it with the method I describe above does neither. Of course, I haven't tried it after mastering a verse, which will happen any day now, but I imagine it should still work.
Onfire thanks for that. I stand corrected, you do earn points. I suppose what I didn't like most about that method is that you get no choice of the next review date. It's either 12 months or not at all. Neither of those choices were appealing to me. My most common intervention is to "reset progress" before the intervals get too large and the verse gets lost in the system.
You are welcome. Calvary Chapel Ontario (Idaho) has a post for EVERY chapter of EVERY book of the Bible. I have appreciated listening as I work on learning scripture: https://www.ccontario.com/thru-the-bible Such a blessing. And recently they encouraged folks to download in case of future internet/power issues.
