Thank you, rvfc2, JDJDJD, joosep , and onfire247 for your encouragement! Thanks also rvfc2 and joosep for the clarification. Iโm relieved to know that the finished verse will still be in the passage as Iโm still working on other verses in that chapter.
Thank you, Wv! As I was in the middle of reviewing a passage at the time, I didn't notice that the verse was finished and I clicked "Okay" instead of "Review in 12 Months". I'm wondering if there's a way to put the verse back into the passage so that it will be there the next time I review that passage?

Symota, I think that if you are still reviewing other verses in the passage your finished verse is in, you will be able to test on it again and click "Review in 12 Months" at that time. Congratulations on reaching that milestone!

One thing to be careful about when using the "test instead of read" option; you have to somehow tick the box before the verse in question comes up. Otherwise you'll see the verse just before you test on it, and it won't be a true test. At least that is sometimes a problem for me, perhaps not for others :)
Symota, I think I was mistaken about being able to continue practicing a verse that has been "Fully Learnt." I also clicked on "Fully Learnt" a couple of times when first finishing some verses, but yesterday when Col. 1 came up for review it started at verse 2 (verse 1 having been fully learnt). I couldn't find any way to test on verse 1 and then have the option to click Review in 12 months. The only way that I could find to keep it in the review list would be to reset the progress. I have done this a few times when I thought that a verse needed considerable more work. The progress returns to 0% and if the verse had been Fully Leart it is removed from your total (presumably to be put back next time it is Fully Learnt). This is the first time this has happened to me, so I'm not sure how the app presents the verses for review when the completed verses are in the middle of the passage - are they still skipped or are they included to maintain continuity?
"test instead of read" function will give you the ability to practice. I now use that a lot when i am tested on large passages, but had previously "Fully Learnt" one verse. It will not permanently adjust that specific verse, but lets me practice with flow to the whole. Hope that makes sense.
Thanks rvfc2 and mrsmoo. Iโll watch carefully the next time that chapter comes up for review to see if the finished verse, which is in the middle of the passage, appears. Iโll try selecting โtest instead of readโ, a feature I havenโt yet utilized but now understand its usefulness. Thanks again for willing sharing your tips to help us relative newbies navigate through this wonderful site! Blessings to you all.
good point... i can tell if there is a verse in a passage i have already learned. in the cue it often says 23 out of 24. So when i open up to test.... on the very first verse... i go to the test instead of read. so every verse will be tested. I must say, since recently learning this function, this has been a game changer for me and really drives things deep... as well, it challenges me. And a warning, when you get to that 'fully learned' verse, it will default to practice when you hit the space bar at the end of typing. you need to manually change to see again. Always a JOY to see your name, rvfc2 too
These points represent a large portion of Godโs Word that you have tucked away in your heart. Your faithfulness and dedication is an inspiration to us all. Congratulations! ๐๐ฝ
Let me add my heartfelt congratulations to you, Luli2016! Iโm so happy and thankful to God for enabling you to reach this amazing milestone. May you be richly blessed as you work on your goal to memorize the Gospel of John. ๐๐ฝ ๐ฅณ
Thanks, TheMoviegoer, and everyone else who contributed comments in this thread. Youโre all so encouraging and inspiring! Blessings in your journeys as you draw nearer to God and His Word.
For me, I would say that my main motivation for memorizing Scripture comes from my desire to know the Lord Jesus Christ more and more and from the realization that there are many admonitions in the Scriptures to know Godโs Word and to have His Word abiding in us. (E.g., John 15:7, 2 Peter 1:5, and Psalm 1:2, ...)
Also, in reading biographies of believers who faced difficult situations and extended periods of imprisonment, when they had no access to a physical Bible, it was their ability to recall Scripture from memory that God used to nourish them spiritually. So in a way, another motivation for memory work is that itโs part of being spiritually armed for the difficult times ahead.
