It's beautiful to see you learning the Gospel of John. (I noticed that you started learning several different chapters). I love that Gospel too, the whole thing. But on the other hand I love so many parts of the Bible .... I think you understand what I'm talking about :) My mind is quite divided on this, but in a "good way" :)
That's a very nice thing to accomplish, CarterM. 128 times in a row. You must have been doing some Bible memorization using some other method before you joined this site, I assume? Anyway, I get inspired when I see things like this. It makes me want to memorize more accurately.
I agree very much with something Luli said earlier. "with or without a level 10 badge". It's a wonderful thing just to be able to study God's Word every day, even if we were only doing the "old-fashioned" way with a Bible and a notebook (I mean a real Bible and a real notebook like they used in the "old days" hehe). This site has been such a helpful tool to me since I joined. There are times I tried a different site, such as Memverse or Scripture Typer, and those are good too, but I've always ended up coming back here. I'm just trying to say, God is good and as we study His Word verse by verse there are rich treasures to be found there. May we be diligent to listen to Him and to find those treasures!
I agree that a Level 10 badge should be added. I'm far away from reaching it, at the moment I have 139 days or something like that, but it would be a good idea to have it to provide additional motivation for people who have already reached Level 9 :)
Actually, a "big" amen, if I may say it that way. Because going through Romans during the last few months -- and also listening to some sermons by some good Bible teachers on Romans -- has helped me to understand the gospel in a simpler and more direct way, as it applies to me personally: that I am a sinner, that I am saved only through the grace of Christ, that I must go to Him daily and confess my sin and pray for His help in overcoming sin, and that in doing that I can rejoice greatly in the assurance of my salvation -- all because of what Jesus has done, and not any man or woman or anyone else, but because of what Jesus has done. I just felt, I had to speak that out :)
rvfc2, Lately I've tried to combine traditional Bible reading with my time spent here, in order to do exactly what you stated, to focus on the content more. But what I've been doing lately also is to choose a particular passage of six or seven verses, then add one at a time, one per day, but as I go along I choose to skip the earlier ones, so that they all "move forward" together. Of course, this method is not perfect for memorization --- but then what I try to do is to wait until the whole passage is due before reviewing it. In that way, I'm able to focus better on the actual content.
I've started adding one verse a day also, and have resolved to stick with it. Thanks PeterP, for being a faithful advocate of consistency :) You've consistently adhered to your line of consistency ;)
