This will result in your being witnesses to them. (Luke 21:13)
Life is a steep climb, and it is always encouraging to have those ahead of us “call back” and cheerfully summon us to higher ground. We all climb together, so we should help one another. The mountain climbing of life is serious, but glorious, business; it takes strength and steadiness to reach the summit. And as our view becomes better as we gain altitude, and as we discover things of importance, we should “call back” our encouragement to others.
If you have gone a little way ahead of me, call back - It will cheer my heart and help my feet along the stony track; And if, perhaps, Faith’s light is dim, because the oil is low, Your call will guide my lagging course as wearily I go.
Call back, and tell me that He went with you into the storm; Call back, and say He kept you when the forest’s roots were torn; That, when the heavens thunder and the earthquake shook the hill, He bore you up and held you where the lofty air was still.
O friend, call back, and tell me for I cannot see your face; They say it glows with triumph, and your feet sprint in the race; But there are mists between us and my spirit eyes are dim, And I cannot see the glory, though I long for word of Him.
But if you’ll say He heard you when your prayer was but a cry, And if you’ll say He saw you through the night’s sin-darkened sky- If you have gone a little way ahead, O friend, call back- It will cheer my heart and help my feet along the stony track.
I don’t pretend to understand the book of Job but still love it. I am amazed at the Lord’s tenderness, compassion and patience toward Job and His providence at the end of the book. It sums up a well known statement: ‘In those days, men were to live by faith if they were to live at all’. Job 3:23 was a ‘stumbling block’ for some time, until I heard/ learned that the hedge does not only imply a boundary with the intention to restraint from the inside but is also a boundary that protects from the outside. Even Satan was given permission to afflict Job until a certain point and no further. Again, I don’t have it all figured out, but I rest on God’s faithfulness and unfailing love to see me through on this side of heaven.
Psalm 27, and many others too have been a great source of strength and comfort in times of need. The book of psalms is my most highlighted book, which is not surprising 🙈 I think the book of psalm is the only book whose language is so intimately personal as a personal relationship can be; e.g psalm 27:9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help: leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. Planning to add psalm 143 to my learning queue also. May we grow closer to the Lord as we meditate on His Word - for our own good and for His glory.
Thank you ☺️ To JESUSlovesu416: I mostly enjoy meditating on psalms, and the book of Job (the latter a little unusual choice I guess). I always draw great encouragement from Psalms. Not the easiest to memorise but the most helpful in times of need. One of my favourites, of all times is psalm 86:10 “For thou art great and doest wondrous things, Thou art God alone. Second favourite: psalm 27:13 & 14 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart. Wait, I say on the Lord. I’m currently ‘working on’/ aiming to memorise the Gospel of John, it’s a daunting task but very rewarding. If I’m honest, I don’t know how I got 80.000.000 as my accuracy on some passages lately is disheartening, but I’m still persevering.
congratulations, Luli2015, on acheiving 80 million points! You are a long time faithful person repeating and learning God's Word here on a daily basis, an example to the rest of us. The Lord loves those who are faithful to Him, and we give Him the glory, because from Him comes every good thing.

Thank you for replying and sharing those wonderful scriptures Luli2016! The book of Psalms is so beautiful and one of my favorites too. I’ve been wanting to read Job & your comment makes me want to read it today! And I will be praying for you, as you memorize the gospel of John! It will absolutely be so rewarding! The Holy Spirit will help you, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (John 14:26)! Nothing is impossible with God! 🤗
Psalm 27:13 is also one of my very favorites I also love Job. The entire scope of it: The suffering, his complaints, his friends answers and attempts at comforting, but then finally how God answers in the whirlwind and Job in the end utterly repents and is humbled in the presence and goodness of God -- things too wonderful for me, which I did not know -- and then how God restores his fortunes to even more than before.
I too find Psalm 27 very encouraging- not just v13&14, but also v4 “One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.” And the gospel of John is a great project! I have just finished it - ie I now have all the chapters started here in LearnScripture. It’s taken several years, on and off, to add the whole gospel, and I’m sure it will take many more years (if ever!) to get it all ticked off as ‘completed’. But it’s a great blessing to study / memorise slowly. May God bless you in your own journey with John.

I’ve enjoyed following this conversation so much. The verses quoted are all so special. Luli you are such an inspiration to me. I wish I had your abilities. I love the Psalms but struggle to memorise them. God is doing wonderful things in your life. Praise God 🥰
it's inspiring to see and to understand from this conversation that we represent a variety of nations and locations, backgrounds and cultures, yet we are united in our common faith in and love for our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our reverence for God's Holy Word

Congrats on 80 million. Hope you decide to work on memorizing the Gospel of John. I almost went with John before settling on Mark. One day, maybe, I will go through it as well.
Thank you Janet (JDJDJD), joosep and janet23 😊! It's been a rewarding experience and at times challenging but the blessings far outweigh the need for discipline and consistency! I wish my memorisation accuracy was equivalent to the millions achieved!
I would like to add my congratulations! As has been said many times before, I continue to be blessed by how using this site causes me to notice the things written in God's Word more deeply than otherwise. I'm sure you are experiencing and have experienced the same, Luli2016. May the Lord bless You with greater knowledge of Him and closeness to Him and His ways!

Thank you Josh and onfire24, I was away visiting family and WiFi was hardly functional. Not sure I can recall all the 1000 verses word-perfect but it's an incentive to keep going.

Thank you everyone for your kind words! As I have always said, I wouldn't have made it this far without your encouragement and shining example. Thank you once again to Luke for the amazing tool and my dear friend JDJD who encouraged me to sign up. Keep safe and God bless
