Onfire, for a fully-learnt verse, when you review it, the accuracy threshold required to keep it fully-learnt is about 90%. Anything lower than that will make it ‘unlearnt’ again. When you review any verse, the threshold for deciding progress - up or down - is relative to the current % learnt for that verse, I believe.
Regarding intervals, if you do ‘test instead of read’ for a whole chapter, you get to retest everything at the interval that is set for the weakest verse in the chapter, which works well for me. But it does come with the disadvantage that you can all-too-easily unlearn a verse that previously got to 100%. But I suppose that is fair too, if I don’t really remember it properly!
Congratulations indeed, Luli. Three years is an amazing achievement, and I’m very pleased you’ve been able to claim the badge that Luke added. But more than the badge, I think that the daily practice you’ve developed of memory and meditation will bring its own reward in your relationship with God. I pray that you will know his blessing as you walk with him, whether or not you continue to add a new verse each day.
Symota, maybe you previously started those verses in a combined ‘verse’? In a ‘passage set’ the verses are always presented individually, but in a ‘selection set’ it is possible to present 2 or more consecutive verses together as a single ‘verse’ for memorisation purposes. If this is the case, the individual verses and the combined ‘verse’ will be treated independently in the stats with regard to percentage learned.
Hi Susan. I mainly learn chapters, adding roughly 1 verse per day. But I no longer add a new verse every day, because after a while I found that my review list was getting too long to manage. Right now I’m learning Hebrews 10, and this week I’ve added 5 new verses.
I agree about the practical everyday wisdom, but I find Proverbs tricky for memorisation, because each verse is individual and there is no real ‘flow’ to the chapter. How are you finding it?
That’s an awesome total, which represents a lot of time invested in the Word of God. May God continue to bless you, Annette, as you spend time with him.
I often add a verse/passage that has been shared at church, or from my personal study. And I also like to expand shorter sections to full chapters to get the context better.
For me, it’s a good way to start the day. I make a pot of tea, and I learn/review my scripture passages, and I connect with God before I look at any emails / messages etc or start thinking about work. This habit usually helps set a good tone for the day.
