Philippians is possibly the most positive of all the epistles, and has a lot a great verses for memorization. I think 1 John has more though, and is currently my favorite!
I would add John 8:34 and 8:36 (KJV) "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." It's very simple: Ask Jesus to help you! Jesus is the one who can set us free from bad habits, but we need to make an effort also.
If there are evil spirits keeping someone in bondage to sin or bad habits, fasting and prayer may also be necessary: Matt 17:21 "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting."
Also, confession of sin is integral to being set free also: 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
For lasting victory: removing sources of temptation: Romans 13:14 (KJV) But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
