I know it's half way through January but just wanted to know what's everyone's plan for the new year is? I was convinced by all you "John learners" and I'm working my way through that gospel. Should take me a good half a year at least! Then I'm eyeing off Hebrews but that might change.
Yay! I don't know how you do it. When I started you had 21 million I think. So you've only got 2 million less in that time. Slow and steady isn't so slow.
Similar to the first disciples in the first chapter. The first thing they do is go find their brothers and tell them "We have found the Messiah". You can sense their excitement!
I think that this whole passage is my favorite part of all of John. There´s something magical about their interaction and the way in which a Gentile woman who has no formal background and education to recognize the Christ, but who has heard of him from others, comes to realise and believe that she is actually speaking with the Saviour of the world and brings other unlikely converts to faith in him.

I've taken a little time off over Christmas so I can do a bit more. Also, I find the narrative parts really easy to memorise (comparatively)! Last time I attempted to learn it I only learnt the prologue before I got daunted by the length. If I'd persisted past that I probably would have continued! Oh well, I still benefited from James, Peter, Colossians and 1 John :) Merry Christmas
it's exciting to see you moving forward in John's gospel! I have to confess, it's my favorite gospel, as many have said. Though, not to ignore how precious are the words of the other three..... Merry Christmas to you!
