I certainly agree, both tools are useful for different purposes. Passages to me also are the best, but selection sets are also very useful for thematic focus :)
Thanks for explaining that, rvfc2. Now I understand. It's a totally different thing when talking about selection sets. I don't use selection sets much, so I don't have much experience with it.
rvfc2: On the Desktop PC version, as you are reviewing, there are three horizontal lines forming a small box just to the right of the percentage rating of the verse (that would be in the upper right corner of the screen). Click on that, and a small menu will appear, including an option to "Test instead of read" That option to test will appear only if that verse is actually not yet due. But once you tick it, it will remain ticked until you untick it.
rvfc2: The option to test instead of read appears as soon as you reach a verse which is not yet due. After that the box remains ticked for the duration of the passage.
To follow up on JDJDJD's comment, rvfc2, this is something that I myself do.
You can also tick the box that says "Test instead of Read". In that way the site will test you on all the verses in the set.
I do this because I want as often as possible to have a feel for individual verses in the bigger context of the passage, chapter, or book. Or perhaps I feel that I need for my own personal benefit or to address some weakness that I have, to meditate on a particular passage, etc. For those reasons, I sometimes do what JDJDJD described.
Of course, when particular verses are tested before they are due, then the progress of the percentage will be appropriately smaller. I might test at 100 percent on a particular verse, but if I am reviewing early, the progress might be anywhere from 0 to 4 percent.
I agree, nice going, and keep doing what you're doing! I have a question, rvfc2, if I may: when you reach 100% on a verse, do you click "Fully Learnt" or "Review Again In 12 Months" (if I'm remembering correctly what the buttons say)
Hello mrsmoo. I just checked out Esther Mui's youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLWHNkhCKvijdq59bFq0bQw I recommend it! Thank you for sharing that tip, I will be listening to her in the future. Worship is an extremely important aspect of who we are as believers. God has loved us with a great love beyond imagination. His desire and His plan for us, is that we return that love to Him.
