Yes, I agree. Everyone has their own particular way of using this (excellent) website and it's good to find your own niche. And starting small, as you suggest, is the best thing. Then once you've gotten a taste for what it's like, you can take on bigger tasks.
It's hard for me to summarize exactly how I add verses. If some passage of scripture speaks to me, then I start learning it. And I generally like to make it a longer passage, so I don't have to fill in the bits later, as By Grace Alone mentioned. That's generally how I myself do it. If something speaks to me, if some verses feel personal to me, I start learning them.
