Yeah, I do the same thing :) I have been thinking it would be nice to memorize some whole book or letter in order. But first I need to be really good at the passages I've already started. Anyway, I hope you are having a nice day (or evening).

I feel like if I just pick and choose I'll just have to go back later and memorise the bits in between so I may as well learn them in order. Whatever keeps you going though! It's good to see a good handful of consistent learners around now.
I wouldn't suggest anyone should start learning whole books. When you first start you should certainly start with something smaller. When you get comfortable and realise that it isn't actually that hard and you understand what learning multiple chapters is going to take, that's when you can go for it. Personally, I'm still building up to something as long as one of the gospels - I chickened out after starting John haha :)
Yes, I agree. Everyone has their own particular way of using this (excellent) website and it's good to find your own niche. And starting small, as you suggest, is the best thing. Then once you've gotten a taste for what it's like, you can take on bigger tasks.
It's hard for me to summarize exactly how I add verses. If some passage of scripture speaks to me, then I start learning it. And I generally like to make it a longer passage, so I don't have to fill in the bits later, as By Grace Alone mentioned. That's generally how I myself do it. If something speaks to me, if some verses feel personal to me, I start learning them.
I made this list to challenge myself (and perhaps others) to think and reflect on not just the verses alone, but the context surrounding each of them ... if Jesus said "must" (as translated from the original language) then it's something I need to pay attention to .... and to think about ...

I echo those sentiments ..... some solutions are indeed simple. Many of my perspectives on life have been changed for the better simply via a consistent, daily meditation on His word. "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free".
Good comments from both of you. I've been working on John 8:1-30 and I'm going to start on John 9 today (although I plan to start by using an old fashioned method without the computer, then I will add the verses later to this website) . I agree with graetzmi23 that listening and reciting are good habits to go along with typing the verses in, as we do here on this site. Have a good day, both of you! (here it's about 5 a.m., for some reason I am up very early)
Hi By_Grace_Alone :) No, I haven't burnt out yet, but thank you for the reminder! I was on vacation for a week and where we were staying, the internet connection was intermittent. I hope you are having nice weather where you are. Here in Estonia, it is raining this morning!
That's a good accomplishment! May our Lord Jesus bless to you and also to those around you, all of His words that you are thinking about and memorizing.
I have to say, I'm also doing some chapters in the gospels and in other of Paul's epistles. I'm working on a lot of stuff at once. So, I guess it will take me quite a while to finish Romans, but I think it's an excellent goal, since Romans is such an important letter.
