Yes, I'd like to share those things. It's been a matter of time lately. And I'm also in my late sixties, and doing things on the computer are not as intuitive for me as they were say 20 years ago, in the "old days" of the internet LOL. I've checked out some free blog sites, but I just haven't been able to devote the time to learning all the ins and outs. Anyway, thank you for your encouragement toward me to go further in that direction.
Moviegoer, I have a question for you which you don't need to answer now, but it's fascinating to me. Do you think that when in 2 Peter 1:15, Peter says (NASB) that he will be "diligent that at any time after my departure you will also be able to call these things to mind". From the context, I think it's clear that by his departure, he means his death (see vss 13-14). Could it be that here he is referring to the fact that behind the scenes, he is instructing Mark to write down the gospel record? Because that's how they will be able to call everything to mind, by reading it, or by it being read aloud in the church.
You don't have to answer now if you don't have time, but anyway, I think it's fascinating to consider :)
Treeswallow, I've been through moments like this. I pray for your friend, that they will give up on herself, and reach out for the Savior. Like the woman who had had a hemorrhage for 12 years, and no one could cure her, and she was at the end of herself. But after only touching the fringe of His garment, she was healed. After that, Jesus called her His daugher. Luke 8. I know, I know that healings are not always immediate like this one in Luke. But I pray earnestly that your friend will reach out and touch even the hem of his garment.
I just checked. I see that you are at 662 verses of Mark fully learned, out of 674. You're almost there! When this is all over, when you reach your goal, I plan to ask, "Which verse was the last to reach 100%?"
I agree with that point, as it's so very important to consider each verse in its broader context. Not just of the passage, but of the chapter, the book, the Bible as a whole. The broader our exposure, the better we can consider the context.
TheMoviegoer, good to see you! Congratulations on 7 more fully learned in Mark, now at 645 out of 674. Congratulations also on passing my point total :)
I'm looking forward to working on 1 Peter someday. And also, 2 Peter 1 is a really good chapter. And I agree with janet23 about learning things in sequence :)
God is good. There is something so special about not just reading a passage, but repeating it, memorizing it, and through that process truly meditating on it. Doing that deepens our understanding of the truths in that passage and help us to know Him better.
