Thank you for posting this verse list. And it's really great seeing your perseverance in learning more and more verses! You seem to have been given a gift for remembering Scripture quickly.

We're all in our own way and pace being enlightened in the knowledge of Christ. While needing to take these verses to heart, there's a kind of strength we get from one another. Thank you.

Sweet bro, the ship is afloat and hull integrity is sound. Let’s keep our eyes on the Light-House that is Christ and never steer from the Bow.; 2,000,000 and counting, steady as she goes.

Yes, I agree. There's a verse in Proverbs ... 27:17, "iron sharpens iron". God intends for us to help one another and love one another, even as He loved us.

No probs. This is a brilliant site and can be used in many ways. Its sometimes good to have the support and friendly competition in a group, but many decide not to. If you did change your mind "The Leaderboard Group for Everyone" is a great group to join too.

With the many who use this site, we all seem able to find those similar to our way of learning the Word. Seeing your progress helps me press on though I might otherwise have pulled back. Thank you.

Hey Steve, keep up the good work; looks like we've adopted a similar strategy; hopefully we'll both be able to maintain it and if not, be able to make healthy adjustments.

Hello Steve, I'm glad I can be an encouragement. Hopefully we can both find a sustainable level of commitment to studying and internalizing God's Word; as it is His divine revelation of Himself to us: for our good and His glory.

you too. you're learning a lot quickly and are ambitious. Do you have experience memorizing a large number of verses over a long time? I know it's all good for me to be thinking on God's Word, but I wonder whether over months using the site I'll be able to remember, say, 75 verses.

Shidiro 2017-12-06 17:56

I have had a few seasons of committing to the spiritual discipline of Scripture Memory. What I've found is that it is much like any other worthwhile and meaningful endeavor; the better you get at it the more you enjoy it, thus you're that much more motivated to continue. As far as the verses sticking with me; I'm not able to lift them from my memory without a bit of review, but the lifting is not nearly as difficult as it was initially. Furthermore, it becomes progressively easier to memorize new and longer passages as we continue in the discipline and over the years more and more content is either at the tip of our tongues or at least maybe a jumbled mess that takes a little unscrambling, but all the basic pieces are present.

Shidiro 2017-12-06 18:01

I'm hoping to commit until January 2019. Undoubtedly, the sweetest seasons of my walk with God have been those that I've committed to the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory, not only is my mind being renewed and my spirit more sensitive to God's leading; without fail my interactions with believers and non-believers alike are undeniably more often influenced by the Holy Spirit as the Scriptures comes to light and alive in seemingly random discussions at an eye-popping rate. It's truly AMAZING...! Maybe in the same way a Butcher gets excited about getting his favorite knife finely sharpened, the Holy Spirit longs for us to sharpen our minds by His word that He may use it to first cut into our hard-hearts and then use us as carriers of His truth into the lives of others. Keep fighting the good fight...!

PeterP 2017-11-27 07:18

I decided to slow down when my review list backlog was always growing at a faster rate than I was reviewing verses each day.

steve.shibley 2017-11-27 12:59

I like that answer since it gives everyone a number that works for them.

Robinshe 2017-11-27 16:57

I slowed down to 1 a day for a while, but found that it took too long to get through anything. So now I learn 3 verses a day and have learned to live with an impossibly long review list that I have no chance of ever getting through. But that´s ok, I´m still learning a lot, and sometimes I have days where I can review more than other days, then I go back and review passages that I feel like reviewing. And gradually some of it sinks in :-)

steve.shibley 2017-11-27 17:27

That seems great for getting familiar with lots of Scripture.

joosep 2017-11-28 03:13

I decided a few months ago to essentially "put to the side" the review queue. Instead, I've made my own review queue on a spreadsheet -- I go through in Bible order all of the chapters I've added. In most cases I've added entire books. I decided back in June to make it my own priority to study books of the Bible as a whole. When I get to the end of my own review queue -- Revelation 22 -- then I will start again at the beginning and once again go through them all in Bible order. I'm finding that method to be, personally, very beneficial.

joosep 2017-11-28 03:16

I'm not trying at all to advocate that anyone else should do what I just described -- it's simply the direction which I believe that God led me in -- the main thing is to study and meditate on God's Word in context -- there are many good methods of achieving that.

steve.shibley 2017-11-28 03:48

thank you joosep. That sound like a detailed approach which would be useful for someone who had learned a collection of summary verses of all of Scripture.

joosep 2017-11-28 04:15

Yes. Well, I would like to clarify, in my own case, not *all* of scripture. At the moment, on my own review queue are the following: some of Daniel, some of Matthew, all of Mark, some of Luke, all of John, some of Acts, all of Romans, some parts of the other letters, and all of Revelation.
