I´ve grown up reading different parts of the Bible, but I got tired of remembering a verse and not knowing exactly where to find it, or remembering something along the lines of a particular topic, but not knowing exactly what the verse said. But as I began with this app, I started to really appreciate how you can discover completely new things even in familiar passages, when you force yourself to slow down and learn one verse at a time. And keeping track of how many days in a row you learn has gradually given me the discipline that I have always before lacked to set apart some time for Bible reading every day.
I´m studying Matthew and so far have only come as far as Matthew 5.... maybe it shows? No, I started out enjoying a little competition and finding it motivating to keep me going, but now I mostly just enjoy the company. But full respect for your choice, nice to "meet" you here anyways.
Look at that, you´re right... "on their hands they will bear you up lest you strike your foot against a stone"... that´s from Psalm 91 which I learned some time ago. Well spotted! Thanks...
I agree, there are many times I would have fallen away from a daily habit of reading without the combination of scores and friendly encouragement, as well as the convenience of having the app always at hand. What part of the Bible are you studying these days?
Thanks! Getting close to the 100 mark, but it takes forever to learn them really completely...but I´m glad they´re so strict about how much it takes to count things as learned, you certainly do forget things over time....

Wow, great job! If you want some company as you study, come join us on the "Leaderboard Group for Everyone", there are a bunch of people there and it´s nice to get encouragement from others. Take care and maybe see you there...
There's something wrong with verse 6 of this chapter. It's missing the second half of the verse. You can tell because the punctuation doesn't make sense.

Thank you to all of you guys who are here and continue to inspire me in my reading. I´m pretty confident that if this had been just a plain study app, without the interaction and encouragement from others, I would never have developed the study habit I have today, and having now being here pretty much daily for almost exactly two years, I think I can reasonably now call my daily verse a habit rather than an attempt. This is the first time in my life that I have managed to actually develop this habit, despite many previous attempts, and it is in no small part thanks to you who have chosen to join me on this path. Thanks and God bless!
I´m also a little bit behind - I´ve started Matthew as well, and am trying to keep a little higher pace so it doesn´t take me forever. But that has slowed down my Ephesians. "Be angry" is an interesting way to start a Bible verse, but I understand that to mean "fair enough that things make you feel angry, but don´t let that cause you to sin". And the part about not letting the sun go down is great relationship advice - isn´t that also in the Proverbs or Psalms somewhere? Or is it just in Ephesians?
How are you doing with Matthew? I just finished Chapter 2. Favorite verse so far: v10 - When they saw the star they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. A very simple verse, but it somehow captures something of the joy we experience when we see direct glimpses of God in this world :-)
Wonderful! And I feel the same way as what you describe. Glad that you are feeling the rewards of studying God´s word. May you continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ :-)
Excellent! It´s really nice to be in the company of others who work so consistently at learning the Bible :-) May God continue to bless you and guide you and carry out his work through you :-)
This is interesting! So according to Matthew, Jacob is the father of Joseph, the wife of Mary. (That should help me to remember who came first of Jacob and Joseph!) But he isn't! Not according to Luke, anyway, who says that Heli is the father of Joseph. Maybe Heli was his nickname? Or maybe "it´s complicated"...
