Hi Lizdny, congratulations! Feel free to join us on the "Leaderboard Group for Everyone" if you´d like some company. Looks like you´re off to a solid start :-)
I have a soft spot for John. Spent much of last year learning the whole book, and studying it like that made Jesus come alive in a new way. May you also experience something like that as you study John :-)
I like Colossians. Recently listened to a sermon about how when Julius Cæsar died, rumours say a star appeared in the sky to show his divinity. After that Roman emperors Augustus and Tiberias were considered divine, or the sons of the divine Cæsar, so when Paul writes in Colossians that Jesus was the image of the invisible God and above all thrones and powers and rulers and authorities - this was directly subversive!
Graetzmi - I´m in! Can you wait a little until I get through Romans 8? I thought I would try to get halfway through Romans before taking a break for a bit. Which gospel do you want to do?
So good to hear you are enjoying it here! You´re certainly off to a flying start! Just a hint - if you want you can go into the settings part and change it so that you just have to type the first letter of each word. If you´re doing a lot of verses, it makes it a lot easier and less typing!
I did actually intend to post my Romans comment on this board :-) It went kind of quiet here so I was just wondering how people were doing... But I´m glad you liked Romans 5, I´m halfway through Romans 4 so that gives me something to look forward to!
Romans is pretty dense stuff, but it´s interesting. How are all of you coming along? What interesting things have you discovered recently, or what passages do you find yourself reminded of in everyday life?
I think John 4 is my favorite chapter in John. Something magic about how the woman discovers who Jesus is, while the rest of the disciples miss what´s going on. And who would have thought that a bunch of Samaritans would be one of the first groups of people (if not the first?) to recognize Jesus as the Christ :-)
Good for you! Great start! And welcome to the site, hope you are enjoying it. Would you like to join us on the Leaderboard Group for Everyone? Feel free if you would like some company along the way :-)
That´s really true. I have found exactly the same thing. Little things that you otherwise would read right past become little discoveries. Reading at that pace really makes the word living (and especially John). :-)
Hi and welcome! I didn´t see you join us before now, but nice to have you with us. Hope you´re enjoying John - I spent most of last year studying John and really learned a lot.
