I got that 256 in a row by reviewing a collection of about 80 or 90 verses that I know really well, and then repeating them over and over ... so maybe it's not quite so amazing) But the whole exercise was awesome, it gave me a deeper focus and concentration on the Lord during that time when I was doing it.

I live in Estonia, and there is a saying here which people sometimes repeat: Repetition is the mother of wisdom. (Of course, they say it in Estonian and not in English). Anyway, that saying certainly applies to learning scripture as well.
