Kcr21 Go to the progress stats and select the verse along at the right hand end. Click on practice verse. Then in the top right hand corner of the verse there are 3 little horizontal lines. By clicking on this you get the option to reset progress. I haven’t tried it but it looks like that should work.

Robinshe 2019-08-12 18:24

Good question, if it is possible, it´s not easy to find. The logical place would be under progress stats when you click on verse progress. I´m not sure whether the "stop learning" option also resets your progress or whether it just removes the verse from your review list.

kcr21 2019-08-12 17:38

Hey guys, can you make it so that you can reset your progress on certain verses again? There are some verses I learned a couple of years ago that I need to re-learn, and I remember I used to be able to reset my progress to zero if I wanted to. Is there a way we can put that option back up again? Thanks

AnnetteCN 2019-07-06 04:37

I think that is an excellent suggestion EileenS :)

EileenS 2019-07-06 02:42

I have a suggestion for typing one letter at a time typing: would it be possible to also force the user to type the numbers for the full chapter and verse - so if it was Matthew 12:30, the person could still type m for Matthew BUT they would have to type 12 for the chapter, and 30 for the verse, instead of being able to type just 1 for the chapter and 3 for the verse. It would also help as a memory aid.

KC49425 2019-05-27 22:55

Is two percent signs also British English, because in the ace badge description it says *100%%.* should that be there?

JDJDJD 2019-05-27 21:50

I think it may depend on whether you’re using American English or British English @KC49425. I just copied this explanation from the website Grammar.com.
“Practice is used as both a noun and a verb; in both cases, it can have any of several different meanings. The word is always spelling practice in American English. In British English, the noun form is also spelled practice. The word is spelled practise when used as a verb in British English.”

KC49425 2019-05-27 18:36

@spookylukey- I just noticed that when you go to practice a verse via the verse progress screen, it says *Practise again.* It should be *Practice again.*

LSNews 2019-04-11 00:10

@spookylukey- just an idea for an improvement: On the bottom of the "Learning Events" display in the dashboard this is written, "The calendar and streaks work in the UTC/GMT timezone" I suggest saying it as, "The calendar and streaks are shown in the UTC/GMT timezone" or, "The calendar and streaks are counted and shown in the UTC/GMT timezone"

Theinfodesk 2019-04-07 07:45

Sorry, I used "I just noticed" twice.

Theinfodesk 2019-04-07 07:44

Hi I just noticed that when I posted a new verse set in the words that you put at the bottom of the page, "NOTES

Learning a verse set is a public action (unless the set is private !and remains private)" , I noticed a misplaced exclamation point. Thanks!

Luli2016 2019-04-06 11:37

Hi Luke, wondering if anyone else is having the same problem. Some passages remain in the review list even though I have just gone through them, such as Psalm 91 and 1 Corinthians 13.
Whereas, Isaiah 53 appears on the review list but it wouldn’t let me review the passage neither in its entirety nor in part.
It’s not that much of a trouble but I like to keep on top of my review list, when possible.
Many thanks for all the wonderful work you do to keep this site running, and thus enabling us to learn and memorise the Word of God.

LSNews 2019-04-06 02:47

@spookylukey- as to my knowledge, you are in charge of the website and improvements made to it, I have invited you, should you choose to accept it, to join the Learn Scripture News team. Because you have information as to the updates to the website, I think that My group could be of assistance to you in getting the word out of new features and major updates to the rest of the community. (The following is a note to others who may see this comment) this comment is an explanation to @spookylukey as to my invitation. If this is an annoyance or inconvenience to you, I apologize. Thank you for your patience! 😀

spookylukey 2019-03-25 10:25

@FinalAsgard - thanks for the suggestion, I'll see what I can do.

joosep 2019-03-24 22:13

Yes, I understand where you're coming from.

FinalAsgard 2019-03-24 05:01

Which won't help with my "hte" for "the" typo. :P And I feel like the first letter thing is cheating for me. It's just that darn typo... Maybe I can find a plugin for Chrome to fix that for me before it's submitted to the site. :D Or, you know, just train myself to stop doing that.... :P

joosep 2019-03-24 02:55

FinalAsgard, you can also -- if you wish -- go to Preferences and there choose the option "Type First Letter". Then you won't need to type out the whole word, only the first letter of each word.

FinalAsgard 2019-03-24 02:07

I really like how most typos don't count as a wrong word... but can we please add "hte" as a valid typo for "the"? :P I know it sucks that I have this curse, but I keep making that mistake.

JDJDJD 2019-03-24 00:19

Thanks Luke. It seems to be fixed now. Thanks 👍

spookylukey 2019-03-23 20:12

@JDJDJD - never mind, I've found a way that should fix it for Safari, let me know if there is still a problem.

spookylukey 2019-03-23 10:34

@JDJDJD - regarding your recent problem with the stars on the progress page - can you tell me exactly which version of Safari you are on?
Thanks!

SBarker 2019-02-07 00:19

I am sorry this is probably not the place for such a comment. Please disregard my last message. Thanks!

SBarker 2019-01-24 00:57

@spookylukey - I stumbled across a group titled "the Dumb homeschoolers LOL". Being a homeschooling child, I was very offended. Is it possible for you to add a report button for such cases. Thanks 😃

joosep 2019-01-18 03:46

@spookeylukey : Would it be possible to add a fourth column of data to the leaderboards, showing Verses Fully Learnt?

Robinshe 2019-01-01 11:03

@spookeylukey - A suggestion concerning MrsJuanCorderos comment under, which I think might be relevant for a number of us here as people begin to fully complete not only individual verses but whole passages and chapters:

Maybe you could create a whole "section" in the dashboard for passages that are fully learned? So there would be 3 section: Review, Learn and Completed (I´m not sure you need Choose as a separate section, since it´s an easy choice to find at the top of the page, although maybe that´s just because I´ve been here long enough to know.) But that way people could review "fully learned" passages whenever they feel like it, and it also gives us a "bookshelf" to "collect" passages we have learned, giving a sense of accomplishment and easy reference instead of them just disappearing. Perhaps with an option to move the passage back to "Review", resetting progress for every verse in the passage to 50%? The completed section doesn´t have to appear for people who don´t have at least one passage fully completed, so as not to clutter the dashboard unnecessarily.

Just an idea...

MrsJuanCordero 2018-12-27 21:15

I have a quick question: I recently reached a point where I am fairly regularly reaching "fully learnt" on several passages. I understand that I will no longer be tested on those, but I am worried about *never* reviewing them again. Is there a method to ensure I can check back in every once in a while, without having to scroll through my verse progress list whenever I want to review something? This is not being lazy, it would just be hard to make sure I was hitting everything again. What happens if I reset my progress on a passage that is at 100%?

spookylukey 2018-11-30 11:38

@graetzmi23 - sorry for a slow reply.

I haven't made any significant changes to that. The exact requirements are pretty difficult to describe fully. The concept is simple in essence - there is 'curve' that you are moving along towards the '100%' mark. If you score 100% in tests every time, and are just learning a single verse, then you will gain about 5% progress every time you are tested, and be tested in every increasing intervals.

The first complication is what happens when you score less than 100%. In that situation, early on in the process you can still make good progress with mediocre scores (e.g. 80%), but later on you are expected to have learnt the verse much better to continue to make progress.

The second complication is passage learning which cause verses to be learnt together, which means that verses can be tested before their own individual schedule (because of other, 'weaker' verses that need testing sooner). When a verse is tested before its own schedule, you won't get 5% progress even if you score 100%.

These complexities could make it look like it has got easier (or harder)

graetzmi23 2018-09-17 11:52

Has it become easier to "fully learn" a verse? The requirements seem to be a little easier to get those last few percent.

spookylukey 2018-07-15 08:30

@JoeDaStriker - the weekly champion is really only attainable by a very small group of people, so it isn't motivating for the vast majority of users. So it was removed, to give room for other things that are more motivating.

JoeDaStriker 2018-07-15 01:46

Why was the weekly champion removed from the site

steve.shibley 2018-04-14 02:12

Thank you for your help. That's a helpful feature.

PeterP 2018-04-13 19:35

Steve, it allows you to choose to be tested on a verse, even if it is not yet due for resting, while you are working through a passage. There is a menu for each verse, top right, next to the % progress figure.

steve.shibley 2018-04-13 15:19

what is the "test instead of read" option and how do I get to it?

joosep 2018-03-13 16:04

I just used the "Test instead of read" option for the first time. Thanks Luke!

Robinshe 2018-03-13 05:41

Hi Jewel! Good that you´re enjoying Learnscripture! First you have to create a group (click on "Other groups" that you see in the right column here, there´s a link there to help you create a new one). Then invite new friends to learn scripture, instructions are right at the bottom of the page, click on "referral program" to find a link you can send them by email or FB. It doesn´t matter how they join, but once they´re on learn scripture you can encourage them to join your group. If they don´t register their full name when they sign up, you won´t know which usernames they have (if you think you know someone click on their user name to see if they´ve also provided a real name - some do, some don´t). But you can always tell them about your group using other communication or ask them privately what usernames they have chosen. Good luck with your group!

Jewel 2018-03-13 00:19

I'm trying to create a new group with women who are not yet members of this site. How do I invite them to join, and how do I find out their user names?

joosep 2018-03-06 07:30

I like all of the latest options available and how they have been designed. Thanks Luke.

dadster 2018-03-03 18:23

Hi Luke - actually I think the way the spell check works is better now. In the past I could type very inaccurately (including wrong first letters!) and just assume it would allow the word if I got most of the rest correct...but now I just need to be more careful, which is better for typing practice anyway!

Luli2016 2018-03-03 17:38

I like the new review option and the new features as well, such as the overall percentage of each verse until it’s mastered.
I’m wondering if Albanian bible is one of the languages you are accommodating or will be able to accommodate any time soon.
I don’t want to put you under any pressure, but seeing how helpful this site has been for me, I would love to see others blessed by it too.
Many thanks for your hard work Luke.

spookylukey 2018-03-03 16:42

@dadster - it is a bit more intolerant yes. The old logic was not always helpful - for example, you were allowed 1 spelling mistake on 2 letter words, which meant you could easily type the wrong two letter word - "of" instead of "on", for example - and be marked "correct".

So I have tightened it for that case, and a bit for longer words, but I didn't think I had tightened it much. Perhaps I have tightened it across the threshhold where it makes a difference. If you continue to find it a problem, let me know, and I can change it to be closer to how it was before. I'm also having to accommodate other languages (we know have a Turkish Bible), and due to the way the language works tighter is better for that case. I may need to split it out to have different levels for different languages.
